The U.S. has — by far — the world’s largest defense budget, spending $948 billion last year. Its armed forces have 1.3 million personnel — some of them currently stationed in Greenland. Denmark, for its part, last year spent $9.9 billion, has only 17,000 soldiers, and most of its heavy land-warfare equipment has been donated to Ukraine.

I think “all the gear, no idea” applies here. Size isn’t necessarily competence. I’d also like to think some other countries would say “you can’t do that, you daft dapeth”.

Let's be real, who would actually defend Greenland against a US invasion?

Greenland is in the EU, so I’d have thought that they’d have something to say about it.

As I said …”I’d like to think…”.

You mean the same EU that pretended that the US didn't blow up their critical infrastructure?

I have no clue what you’re trying to achieve here. I said “I’d like to think…”, which I think makes it clear I accept it might not happen.

I'm just pointing out that there's no chance in hell it would happen. The EU is entirely dependent on the US, and it's in no position to do anything if the US starts annexing territory. Europeans made a strategic error assuming that the US was their steadfast ally. The relationship closer to that of a farmer sheltering a goat. It's not done out of affection.

You didn’t need to. Bit late for that though.
