About time. For many people this isn’t something that’ll make a big difference for them, especially with the Deck’s battery being (relatively) easy to replace yourself. Still nice to have the option accessible for those who want it.
More devices need replaceable batteries. My phone where that thing is glued in the device and can rip the screen apart trying to remove it? That’s unacceptable. Just make the battery a proper maintenance item.
Yeah, as much as I like this feature I’d rather just be able to easily replace the battery. Or at least not have it glued in…
Agreed. I'm definitely capable of replacing my Decks' batteries, but I'm excited about this feature because I'd still rather not have to. Plus my deck spends 99% of it's life plugged in on it's dock.
Oh hey, actually reading the article for the win; it's already possible to turn a limit on manually:
echo 80 | sudo tee /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon3/max_battery_charge_level
I've been using powertools for this, has a lot more functionality than I use for GPU/CPU limits, but the charge rate limiting is nice to have as well.
Glad charge limiting is hitting the os though, assuming most people don't go for 3rd party plugins
