And this is why Democrats will keep losing.

Playing nice again nazis always worked out fine. Remember how we defeated Hitler by just asking him politely to stop killing people?

Is Neville around? We should ask him.

[-] aseriesoftubes@lemmy.world 87 points 2 weeks ago

AOC and others who are prepared to fight this bullshit need to spin off their own political party. I figure it would only take the departures of a handful of high-profile progressives to make the whole house of cards fall. The country is being pillaged, and the Dems’ response has been completely fucking impotent. Time to build a new party that isn’t run by geriatric milquetoasts.

[-] Sergio@slrpnk.net 27 points 2 weeks ago

spin off their own political party

I think the idea behind organizations like the Democratic Socialists of America and the Working Families Party is to have party-like organizations that work within the Democratic party so they don't act as "spoilers" given the 2-party system. (I could be wrong about that tho...)

[-] CascadianGiraffe@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

This is how they lose.

If you had a party actually for the people, you would get a lot of the Trump votes as well. Most of MAGA weren't about racist bullshit or half of what's happened since the changeover.

They are tired of the corporate and government corruption and Trump promised (lied) to do something about that. We need to offer the same hope without all the hate. We need to offer change without just saying the other side is evil. It isn't the 'other side' that is the problem. It's the corrupt people in positions of power and the ones that tell you to blame the 'other side'.

[-] echutaaa@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

Who the fuck cares about spoiling a vote between mask off and mask on fascist. The democrats are lost we need real leadership.

[-] nomy@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

That they were so ineffective and unable to mount a campaign against an obvious felonious, grifting, lying rapist is all the proof I need that they're incapable of leading.

[-] chilicheeselies@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

We need to take it over like those wackadoos toom over the republican party

@inclementimmigrant

IKR?!

WTF Dems...?

Stop enabling a tyrant. This is gonna bite you in the ass quicker than you thing.

[-] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 65 points 2 weeks ago

I mean what the fuck are they even doing?

When the Republicans were out in 2020, they pushed back on everything and everyone, fuck the consequences, which there never are any, and let their base know they had their backs regardless, and even if they voted they damn well made it known they did so reluctantly.

Here you've got Democrats who aren't even putting things up for a fight and then they have members going on air touring how great these guys are, fucking Fetterman.

There's no spine in any of these Democrat assholes so why the hell would I vote for any of them at this point if your going to make it easy for fascists? There is no lesser of two evils now, just sickening enablers.

[-] Banana@sh.itjust.works 48 points 2 weeks ago

They're doing what they always did: uphold the status quo.

The veil is pulled back, neither party (save for a few progressive senators) actually gave a shit about anyone but themselves. The DNC was just better at pretending, using rainbow capitalism to hide it.

[-] tabernac@c.im 26 points 2 weeks ago

@inclementimmigrant

They still govern by 'gentleman rules' but the GOP and Trump aint fucking gentlemen. They're fucking Nazis using the system against them...

[-] medicsofanarchy@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Perhaps the Dems realize there won't be another vote, and they're better off kissing ass now if hey want their jobs.

[-] whostosay@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago

If they realized anything, they would have realized that if they keep enabling this shit, their jobs are absolutely gone and likely their lives.

[-] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago

Then they'd piss off their own donors too...

You know when the last big cut to the federal workforce was?

The 90s when Clinton was in office.

You know what trump was doing in the 90s? Donating so much to the DNC that the Clinton's came to one of his sham weddings.

If you want to know why neoliberals aren't opposing Donald Trump, it's because they've literally been working together to destroy the federal government and replace it with oligarchs for the last 30 years.

So stop acting surprised already, and start opposing them.

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago

Say it with me:

👏 Democrats👏 are👏 not👏 coming👏 to👏 save👏 us👏

[-] Montagge@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Our only chance are the leftists that are too busy arguing semantics and refuse to work together! Aw shit.

[-] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

Including some people who label themselves "Democrats."

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Ah but bipartisanship. Mr. Hitler will surely see sense any day now, if we're polite and reasonable and try not to anger him.

[-] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 30 points 2 weeks ago

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last."

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 30 points 2 weeks ago

Fuck the democrats. Let's take BERNIE and AOC, and replace the rest in the next election.

[-] nomy@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 weeks ago

That's part of what the republican partys done that's made them so successful. If your representatives don't represent you, primary them.

[-] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Shit, Democrats don't even give us a chance to primary, they just pick whoever they want.

In NJ, they had what was referred to as the county line, which would basically put the Democratic party's candidate first on a ballot. It was abolished this year, but the idea was that the positioning on the ballot made it easier for people to just vote down the line, but the result was that you didn't necessarily have a fair vote.

Democrats would rather be fascists than fight fascists.

But when you try and run a campaign as off-brand, Mr Pibb, diet-fascists..

[-] CascadianGiraffe@lemmy.world 29 points 2 weeks ago

The elite Democrats aren't worried about fighting back.

They are trying to figure out how they can win the next round AND HOW THEY WILL USE THE SYSTEM TO THEIR OWN ADVANTAGE ONCE THEY REGAIN CONTROL.

We need another party that is actually for the people.

If there’s one thing corporate dems hate more than the Republicans, it’s AOC and her squad.

[-] dx1@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, besides when she's endorsing their candidates and voting the exact same way as the rest of them.

[-] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago

AOC is 100% correct.

[-] fox2263@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

Fear of reprisal.

Once all these confirmations are done, you may see senators that voted against mysteriously fall out of windows.

[-] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Oh please, even Democrats who did vote for these unqualified fascist will get thorium poisoning.

[-] aesthelete@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Appeasement will not save anyone from the night of long knives.

[-] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 2 weeks ago

The best time for that would have been several years ago, but... hey, I mean, do it?

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

The only way anything she says will have any impact is if she start getting the army ready to launch a counter-coup, or else starts building a leftwing militia.

No amount of not-nice wordsmithing and congressional wankery is going to work -- we're past that point now.

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago

Pot meet kettle

[-] xc2215x@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Agreed. It has gone too far.

[-] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

"But both parties are not the same" they screamed as the country burned and the elites on both sides of the aisle lined their pockets off the backs of their suffering constituents.

Come now children and give me your downvotes and paragraphs of bullshit telling me I am wrong.

[-] Jarix@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago

They may both be shit, but they arent the same....

[-] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I mean we're talking just on paper at this point when the Democrats are enabling these neo-Nazi assholes and not putting up meaningful opposition.

I've defended people for both siding shit but damn at this point when you've got Democrats passing Laken Riley Act, which allows immigrants to be deported for being accused of fucking shoplifting and Democrats not only voting for Trump's neo-nazi, dog killing, environment killing nominees and then going on air and waximg poetic about the votes for them. What fucking shitty opposition party is this? It's not.

Your right, both parties are not the same, ones worse as a enabler of abusers, they're more pathetic than Trump's Republicans.

[-] Jarix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Respectfully i disagree with where you went with this.

The devil is in the details as the saying goes and nuance and minute differences as well as intentions and purposes all matter.

Enabling is not worse than driving an outcome. It may be that the enablers are worse in some instances, but driving the worst outcomes is always worse than taking advantage of it when it's happening.

It's always worth it to get to the bottom of events and understand as much as is possible instead of just labeling things as "close enough so it doesn't matter" that's just going to l lead to enabling in w different way.

"They are both the same so i voted for the ones i find funniest, because they both the same"

[-] takeiteasypolicy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

i have a question - where is Kamala Harris in all this ? She lost the prez race and decided to just give up on her dreams of creating a better USA? This is the perfect moment for her to step up, invite people for resistance, lead that resistance and be the leader she claimed to be.

[-] Punchshark@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 weeks ago

Where are all the 2a folks who are going to stop the 'tyRAnNicAl gOvERnMenT'

[-] diskmaster23@lemmy.one 0 points 2 weeks ago

It's our tyrannical government, so it's okay.

[-] GoodEye8@lemm.ee -1 points 2 weeks ago

More like they wouldn't know a tyrant even if one shouted "I'm a fucking tyrant".

[-] finitebanjo@lemmy.world -2 points 2 weeks ago

I honestly do think they could have pushed through a lot worse than Burgum and Rubio. Hegesth didn't get a single D vote and also lost 3 R votes but still got approved because they only needed 50 R and 1 VP to tiebrake it.

We cannot stop fascism, the people already voted for it, the most we can do is damage control, and sometimes that means approving selfish assholes who at least aren't as poisonous as another Russian Plant and/or Fox News Host.
