This is important, don't get me wrong, but most people can't drive to bum-fuck for a protest. Most US State capitals are in the middle of nowhere purposefully. Props to all the organizers getting stuff like this off the ground. We need more material means of dissent.

It's also in the middle of the week and people have jobs so they can do stuff like keep a roof over their heads.

Yes a weekend would be less disruptive. But there would also be a hell of a lot more people able to participate.

Many people have expressed this concern and it does make sense i.m.o. Other people have said that, to be disruptive, a protest taking place when lawmakers are in their offices is a good idea ... so they will experience the protest first hand. (~~a little like what happened during the January 6th insurrection~~ i should try to find a better example)
Some people will not be able to attend but this might be just one group of (50) protests in an escalation of many more ...

I wonder if it would make more sense for people to make appointments at their nearest firing range, for basic firearm safety training. Just, you know, in case a burglar burgles a home or something. If the government saw that 10,000 people went for training this weekend, they'd feel better about our safety. And more could join in next weekend.

Hearing about this 4 days before it was going to happen just seems like poor planning...

You need a solid month at the very minimum if you really want people to see, prepare, and be there....

[-] Irelephant@lemm.ee 3 points 2 weeks ago

True, though its growing very fast.

[-] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

I'm glad it is, truly. I just wish I would've known sooner so I could join...

They have more stuff planned for the future, but yeah, this was all very short notice.

Maybe that anti-Trump protest could have happened at the election booth back in November.
