Trudeau is in Europe, talked with von der Leyen and Costa, talked about AI, talked about Ukraine, talked about how they are trying to increase defense spending to above 2% of GDP, talked about strengthening partnerships, said a quick hi to irreleVance, mentioning 2.2B CAD of steel going to Ohio.
I'm curious what's happening with those internal trade barriers. The clock on "done in 30 days" is counting down fast.
I suspect much of the "radio silence" is a combination of "don't tip our hand" and "not reacting prematurely to Trump's bluster, but rather waiting to see what he actually does".
Plus, there is a lot that is happening.
Trudeau is in Europe discussing the situation with various leaders there.
The premiers were in Washington talking to anyone and everyone they could.
And there have been a number of contingency plans made, we just have to see which (if any) of Trump's "concepts of a plan" actually happens.
Meanwhile it looks like there is starting to be some infighting among Republicans. No need to interrupt them while that's happening.
I agree
A slow pace will give time for concerned republicans to discuss. Trump try to ignore a lot of things but he needs congress to follow through with legislation for his plan to succeed.
Yeah they constantly do this. Hasn't led to their downfall or anything even remotely close to it yet.
Apparently there is an EU defence pact in the works. CBC mentioned it today.
No clue, this was a weird week, 51st state, reciprocal tariff, weak army, Canadians in danger, etc and no word, nothing, from either governor Trudeau or PP or ministers of whatever?!?
I understand we have to sometimes ignore the bully, but damn, even if "x ae 12" can say to the neutered "vp" trump to shut the fuck up in front of camera, cannot trudeau at one point say to trump "no fucking way"?!?
Trudeau should put a 100% tariff on "oil from usa" so the USA reciprocal tariff will automatically put a 100% tariff on Canada oil entering USA :)
USA needs Canada especially for oil, potash, and cars and parts and others.
