I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don't look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I'd go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I got my uBlock Origin ready to kill all the ads. That shitty website will not get a cent out of me.

What about you? Do you still use reddit?

Hmm, not really. As I've said before - a lot of the news stuff is also on Ground News, WaPo, Mastodon or Lemmy. There's no great replacement for /r/sysadmin, but that needed replacing as it got to be useless over the last few years. I don't know if there's a /c/changemyview or not, but that isn't necessary.

Actually, I just spend more time doing other stuff for entertainment - read more books, catch up on more podcasts, yes watch more youtube, TV, Movies whatever. Go outside, walk the dog. I'm kind of surprised how much time I can spend on lemmy lol.

Only if a search sends me there and other links aren't giving me what I need

[-] 0xeb@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I don't. Since the beginning of this month, I only visited it 2 times where a Google search pointed out a post there, that is it. And even when it pop ups on the Google search result I tend to first check out other links.

[-] Nikki@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

boost for reddit has become unusable, many subs i frequent are still blackout. i have no real use for reddit any more, ill use the web client for google results when the sub i need isnt gone

this has done wonders for my social media addiction, more tjme spent with my friends on discord rather than doomscrolling reddit

[-] amoroso@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I left Reddit in early 2022 and never looked back.

[-] phoenix591@lemmy.phoenix591.com 1 points 1 year ago

theres a couple communities stuck on there I still check on, but no longer casually browse.

[-] lalay721@feddit.it 1 points 1 year ago

There are just two subs I check about once every two days, but I'm yet to log in again after I disconnected my account last month. I used to only visit it through Libreddit as the UX is better anyway but now that one's gone too...

[-] Littleborat@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

The official app has bad performance and that's why I only browse on my pc. Usually that's once a week.

[-] RagnarokOnline@reddthat.com 1 points 1 year ago

Went back for like a day after my main amount on v.lemmy went down with the server.

After a day I couldn’t stomach it anymore. Reddit All is just a bunch of warzone footage or clickbait news.

I created a new main on a new Lemmy server and am loving being here.

[-] B3_CHAD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

Yes as there are certain subs that aren't on lemmy. But I have been visiting it a lot less since lemmy.

[-] notun@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Of course I do. It's reddit.

[-] Hiru@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No I don’t, why would I when there’s Lemmy with all this fine people?

[-] Aatube@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

i just check it twice a week

[-] eldrichhydralisk@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 year ago

Nope. I quit cold turkey on June 30 and haven't been back. Well, not on purpose, at least. Sometimes a Google result sends me to Reddit, but when it loads I just close it and move to the next result. Lemmy works fine for everything I used Reddit for.

[-] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

No. I only really use my phone for everything. It's impossible to see the old website on mobile and the regular website is hot garbage, and somehow their app is even worse. There is no way for me to access Reddit and have a pleasant experience anymore.

Reddit basically forced me to go to Lemmy. I was mad at first, but now 3 weeks into it (1 week casual before the Baconreader died and then 2 weeks of redditesque addiction) I really don't mind. There are some subs I really miss, but hopefully someone makes communities for them soon. (Malicious compliance and HobbyDrama are what immediately pop into my head)

[-] leanleft@lemmy.ml 1 points 9 months ago

reddit is a source of information. (fact).
but i logged out and will not be going back.

[-] Turbofish@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I still use it for a couple of hobby related things although I could probably use discord for some of it.

Whilst I am using lemmy it's not quite hitting the spot so I use it less. I'm getting an awful lot more reading done.

[-] calebcharles@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 year ago

Cold turkey. I trad an interesting crosspost back-and-forth about the new gold deprecation thing, but other than that, no.

[-] 0x4E4F@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Only the NSFW content, I got everything else here.

[-] WheelcharArtist@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Only here and there for one specific sub

[-] f4te@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I do, from desktop, mainly as force of habit.

my chosen mobile app, Relay, actually still works, but I am trying to train myself to use Lemmy more.

I just wish the content changed over faster, and there were more comments.

[-] Kronusdark@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Only if a search result organically takes me to something that happens to be on Reddit.

I do notice that a lot of the subs I find this way are now locked to 18+ (the SwiftUI sub) which means I have to login to view. Since I deleted my account that’s a no go.

[-] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

A little bit, but I have been favoring Lemmy. If they kill old.reddit I'm out though.

[-] doppelgangmember@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Of course not!!

<.< >.>

[-] popcorp@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 year ago

Only when googling stuff I sometime add site:reddit.com, but I am no longer browsing reddit on my phone. With the death of RIF and APIs I just can't stomach looking at the page.

And good bless old.reddit redirector plugin.

[-] Strayce@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 year ago

I used to visit reddit for fun. Now I just check it if it comes up in a google search.

[-] samae@bidule.menf.in 1 points 1 year ago

@001100010010 Nope, all gone. I used to browse daily via an app on my phone.

Nowdays I've setup my own lemmy instance, and typing "reddit" on my phone will launch jerboa instead, so that takes care of covering for the bad habbit :D

[-] neko@fishfry.cheese.beer 1 points 1 year ago

My small 3rd string city's community is only like one guy on here, but it's active on there

[-] Nath@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago

Use reddit? I still have my work account for when Google sends me there.

Visit Reddit? No.

[-] Potatomache@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Yup. I never used any of the apps (always opened reddit through my mobile browser) so I wasn't affected that way. I am sympathetic to all the issues brought up, and I do really like the fediverse, but I don't think the users are here yet.

I like going to reddit to read about opinions or someone more knowledgeable than me talk about things. I find there's a lack of discussions in the fediverse at the moment for me, and maybe that's due to me having to curate my experience more. I don't know. But for now, yes, I still use it.

[-] nevernevermore@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

there's a single community there that i read but don't engage with, because they haven't found a new home. also, while problem solving some tech issues, qwant and ddg both feed me reddit as threads to find solutions, but i digest the info and dont sign in, upvote, comment etc

[-] jjakc@lemthony.com 1 points 1 year ago

I created a libreddit instance for myself, so if I want to browse a specific subreddit that hasn't moved away, (e.g. /r/warthunder) I can without using the official site.

[-] holycrapwtfatheism@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Rarely. Without RiF I legitimately hate reddit on mobile using old reddit. I'll lazily browse sometimes when I'm at a PC but it's super limited to topics I haven't found on here yet.

[-] kplaceholder@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I admit I wasn't intending to leave Reddit. Sure, I absolutely wasn't going to install the damn official app, but I browse Reddit way more on desktop that on my phone. But it turns out my time spent on Reddit absolutely tanked without me doing much. Lemmy turned out to be a better replacement for me than I expected, I could find a lot of interesting activity here unlike, say, Mastodon where I had to dig further.

That does not mean I left Reddit entirely lol, but I sure enter way less now.

[-] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

There's a few things that I follow that do have communities here, but little to no engagement in those communities. I'll occasionally get on to look at those subreddits for updates, but I don't have an account anymore so I don't log in and I don't engage with the communities. I also use RES so they don't get any of my advertising revenue. Someone had linked a read only Reddit client before but I can't remember what it was, If anyone does remember let me know so I can switch to that.

[-] coros@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yes but as Lemmy grows I’ll probably stop. There’s still some local subreddits that haven’t made the move. Since I don’t use Facebook, it’s the only way to get the local happenings.

[-] deweydecibel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Why is this pinned? And which apps let you block instances wholesale?

Yes. I like reddit’s posts more, but the Memmy app is more stable on my phone than the official reddit app, plus no ads. So I’m currently using both, but as Lemmy’s community grows and matures I’ll probably start using reddit less.
