They're walking right into the corporate trap of MIT and non copyleft licenses. FOSS will be bled dry if these greedy corporations are not forced to give back to the commons. And copyleft licenses like GPL ensure that they must contribute back

I'm not sure they're walking into the trap so much as leading us into the trap. Canonical has not traditionally been super pro copy left.

Great breakdown, esp. the license issues and the case in point of MINIX. Subscribed.

I just checked, Archlinux already has uutils-coreutils in [extra], but there's no surprise there, they've always been relatively unconcerned about such things.
