Let’s dispel with this illusion that Meta doesn’t know exactly what it’s doing. Hate speech, compromising US National security for access to Chinese markets, dumbing down political discourse and literally everything else, manipulating hundreds of millions of people to make them insecure and more vulnerable to advertising.

Meta is as evil as evil gets. All confirmed by insider whistleblowers. They paid to play, so they’ll get away with it. Just know what you’re supporting when you participate in their ecosystem.

Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard, just ask. I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS

[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?

Zuck: People just submitted it.

Zuck: I don't know why.

Zuck: They "trust me"

Zuck: Dumb fucks

Well, yeah. They straight up said they were going to stop. Not sure what's new here...

Failing implies trying

[-] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago

Pfft...

Disinformation on a global scale is Meta's raison d'etre... It's their best revenue creator. Especially in the current US "gov't" climate. They are now shielded.

Anyone not clued into this fact is either not paying attention or is being willfully ignorant.

Oh, and FUCK ZUCK!!

🤡 🤦‍♀️ 🖕 🖕

Alleged pedophile Mark Zuckerberg?

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Didn't he die a few weeks ago?

[-] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 15 points 2 months ago

Zuckerberg put in his will "Anyone who kills me gets a billion dollars". Bold move, but apparently legal!

He has a sex change, she's Marquette now.

[-] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago

Please tell me she got a proper hair stylist.

As the power driver bottom in a clown pegging chain orgy at a pagan easter festival in marin county, yes. I was one of the clowns.

[-] Bloomcole@lemm.ee -2 points 2 months ago

Don't pretend it wasn't like that under any US 'climate'.

[-] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago

Failing to stop.

Also known as aiding and abetting.

[-] fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 9 points 2 months ago

Yep. They're intentionally propagating it.

....and yet they are pretty sharp at taking down/silencing any anti israel/pro palestine posts 😔.

Edit: Here ya go:

"failing" implies that's the goal, when we know that meta promotes disinformation because it benefits them

[-] witnessbolt@lemm.ee 18 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

That's literally the point. Social media is literally one of Peter Thiel & co's weapons to overthrow & destabilize democracies. If they succeed in the US, they plan to do it to every democracy.

Easy to frame lies as "free speech" when you control what everyone gets to see

Peter Thiel was the first outside investor in Facebook, and Zuck is close with him and all the other "dark enlightenment" tech bros

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

Time for the EU to seriously fine them and block them until full compliance.

[-] henfredemars@infosec.pub 11 points 2 months ago

Failing? But they’re not trying. They’ve been soft on disinformation for years and are known for meddling in elections.

[-] bus_factor@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

Worse, they're actively incentivizing it.

[-] Pringles@lemm.ee 11 points 2 months ago

Ban engagement driven algorithms!

[-] arararagi@ani.social 11 points 2 months ago

You can't fail something you never actually tried.

[-] h3mlocke@lemm.ee 9 points 2 months ago

Are they still "failing" if they're doing it on purpose?

[-] TrojanRoomCoffeePot@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

*every single human language in existence.

[-] DFX4509B_2@lemmy.org 5 points 2 months ago

I'd more likely argue they're facilitating it, but that's just me.

[-] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Uh yeah. What else is new? This is why nobody should be using ANY of their stuff. They are objectively a force bent on social destruction for profit. By using any of their services or buying any of their products, you are contributing whether you agree with them or not.

[-] Bloomcole@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

Always was like this

[-] GoodOleAmerika@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago
