Liking dragon people doesn't make you a furry. The proper term is scalie.
BRUH DRUIDS CAN BECOME OWLBEARS?!?
I mean I know the Druid in the recent movie did, but I didn't know this game would let me lol
Druid is the secret key to success in any game they are available, trust me I'm a druid
"trust me I'm a druid"
Also there is in the first act a stage where you encounter an owlbear and its cub. Don't kill either just back up. Later in the goblin camp you'll find the cub captured. Demand its freedom. It will later come to your camp. That when you start befriending it.
Omg yes it will be my new son
get him and the labrador https://yewtu.be/watch?v=rIvl8EqIewo&pp=ygUaaG93IHRvIGdldCBvd2xiZWFyIGN1YiBiZzM%3D

As always in these kind of games, you'll be rewarded if you play a combination that maxes out your combat effectiveness while also maxing out your social skills. Sorcerer is the way to go for the magically inclined, Paladin for the non-magical.
Sword Bard as your main character made Honor Mode very forgiving. Rizz, magical support, crowd control, and able to do damage.
Dragonborn are among the more interesting-looking races. If you like the pretty shiny dragon people go for it.
As far as class goes, it depends on what you're going for. A combat monster? Sorcerer is good, especially dragon blooded. But think about going with a bard too. They're great for support but can also be decent in combat with 3 Warlock levels just to get Pact of the Blade so you can use whatever weapon you want, and of course Eldritch Blast (recommend the class perks that cause knockback and extra damage). Mostly though Bard gives you access to some hilarious dialogue options and Speak with Animals, which expands the available quest options. They're also good with any combo of companions, so you can pair up with a warrior, mage, and thief to have all the bases covered.
also Bae'Zel best girl <3
Dragonborn look cool during character creation but they don't emote as well as the other races during actual gameplay. Seeing as your character communicates with facial expressions 99.9% of the time, I kinda regretted my first run as a Dragonborn.
Ok yes but also counterpoint I'm a gat dang dragin
Like I said, I picked a Dragonborn for my first run for this exact reason
i think the race specific dialogue for them is pretty sparse also at least until later in the game
I'll keep that in mind
Do not kill minthara, the drow in the camp. Kmock her out. She will be a hilariously evil companion.
How do you do that? I assumed that the choices were only between killing her and selling out the folks she wanted to kill.
Have to use non lethal damage to her. Then later on in act 2 meeting ketheric there is a scene where she stands trial for her failure. Gonna do roll to convince them not to kill her https://gamerant.com/baldurs-gate-3-bg3-how-to-deal-non-lethal-damage/
Thank you
I only did this because I like your username
there is a toggle for non-lethal damage, just gotta be careful not to use spells
Hmm okay. The only I remember I was able to defeat her without starting a riot was by shooting her with the CIA "fall into a bottomless ravine gun" from the shadows.
that's a good way to avoid a big fight, but they patched in a way to save the grove and get her as a companion by knocking her out, previously knocking her out flagged her as dead

Fairly do-able even on Honor Mode if you use illusions or a bard playing music to lure every witness in the room away, and also shove the flying eye into the abyss (and then leave/go invisible before someone comes to investigate why the eye """died""").
Then if you surprise her, use the surprise round to just (non-lethally) cave her head in with a raging barbarian using a maul or something like that, then proceed to wipe out the rest of the leaders, once you report back to the grove and finish up Act 1, she will be in Act 2 getting scolded for failing.
All that dialogue can also encountered without knocking her out. The trigger for it is to completely ignore the Goblin/Druid conflict. Without your interference, the Tieflings are cast out, the Druids finish the ritual and magically seal off their grove, Minthara gets reprimanded for failing her objective, and you have the option of saving then recruiting her from there. Doing this means you miss out on Wyll, Halsin, the breadcrumb for Karlach, so they give you Minthara.
I thought you also had to be super fucking evil yourself to do it. But I think I now remember them patching it so you don't have to commit to evil for her.
Oh yeah. I remember trying the path where I try to knock her outwhen leading the army to the grove. But just leading them to the grove made me an oath breaker lmao
I loved doing a hippie Paladin. Nature-defender kinda guy, forced by the gods to protect nature or his oath will be broken. Forces you into funny scenarios
You have a feathersona. I think it's time to accept it.
College of Swords bard is fun, especially for a ranged build.
Personally, I went with a gnome Open Hand monk with the Tavern Brawler perk because Improvised Weapon and Throw are too hilarious not to abuse, especially when you barely come up to most opponents' kneecaps. To that end, kneecaps are a weakness, and I exploited them.
Edit: At any rate, I highly recommend picking a class or race that has access to Speak With Animals. Talk to ALL the cats!
I like that the game opens with body horror worm, delightfully devilish
Does a druid Dragonborn make any sense lore-wise?
Yeah, but they're not actually related to dragons. They're weird genetically engineered human-lizard hybrids made by dragons.
Bring back 3rd ed and half dragons
I like how the majority of magic beast were created by wizards who just said "fuck it, I'm gonna combine an owl with a bear" or similar things.
Any race can be any class, don't worry it's not that kind of game.
Dragonborn came to Faerun only recently. Magic nonsense from changing editions. If you know a bit about forgotten realms lore, Aber and Toril and some crossover stuff happen.
If you wanna RP stuff, think about how your character learned to be a druid! BG3 gives you plenty of reason to be travelling with a group of weirdos, so you don't have to worry about jiving with party members. You all have a really good reason to travel together and work towards a common end.
sure, there are some more nature-y dragons
Doing a selunite run while persuing shadowheart as a romantic interest is pure comedy
githyanki get a bonus action teleport for free
the lucky feature for halfings is very strong and i think stacks with the lucky feat
one of the dwarves can go invisible which is overpowered
dark urge is fun
martial classes are very strong and fun
charisma is also really strong
If you're deadset on picking dragonborn, bear in mind that red dragonborns get bonus relationship points with Laezel.
My favourite race picks are githyanki and lolthsworn drow though:
Lolthsworn drow get a bunch of unique dialogue options early on that can allow you to skip some combat encounters (although there are also a coupla situations where it's flipped and you've gotta talk normally peaceful NPCs down from fights).
Githyanki starting proficiencies give you a bunch more defensive options for non-martial classes. They also have a lot of unique dialogues.
Heyyy I JUST started bg3 too! I made my character a githyaki bard but then changed my class to a githyaki fighter specializing in 2 handed weapons. High strength, health, and charisma. I’m having a lot of fun with it, basically a sword lesbian roleplay (it’s barely a roleplay lol I’m just being me).
Just wanted to say you can re spec! But you can’t change your race unless you make a new character. You can also adjust your characters look very easily from the beginning of the game so don’t get toooo hung up on it
Did u give your character a massive ass
My favorite character in table top and bg3 is halfling wild magic sorcerer, charlatan (or gambler) background. Can recommend if you don’t mind accidentally dying to bad rolls.
games
Tabletop, DnD, board games, and minecraft. Also Animal Crossing.
