Canada needs to hit back HARD with counter-tariffs. If we cave here, then where will it end??

Trump thinks he can unilaterally pull out of NAFTA (or whatever the modern equivalent is)? OK, we can unilaterally pull out of the water treaties that say we allow our rivers to flow south of the border.

The time has come for Canada to stop exporting any raw resources at all. Water, lumber, cattle, crude, LNG ... keep it and refine/process it and sell finished goods only.

Canadians may have forgotten how quickly the US caved on keeping cattle from being imported to the northern US states for processing when Alberta and Saskatchewan called their bluff near the end of the Mad Cow scare around 2003... Canada had all the paperwork to prove herds were being tested properly for mad cow disease, but the US wanted to leverage the fear to keep Canadian beef out to help their own farmers; so Canada decided to start building more beef processing plants locally. They panicked and re-opened exports fearing we'd become self-sufficient for beef production and stop sending our cattle to them for good, destroying their processing industry.

I think I might even hate cryptocoins and AI more now... at least the oil does useful work (in the physics/mechanical sense) to keep society going; the former two just waste energy (mostly from oil!) to create fake wealth and spew mostly-bullshit. Oh, and in the case of AI, steal creative works from humans.

I'll say it again: since the SCOTUS intends to slow-walk a decision on presidential 'absolute immunity', Biden needs to announce RIGHT NOW that he's dissolving the SCOTUS effective 2 weeks from the time of the announcement, at midnight, intending to appoint an all-new roster of his choosing, as well as replacing all state-level judges, also of his administration's choosing.

If the SCOTUS, on the other hand, suddenly finds they do have the time to make a decision on presidential immunity before that deadline, well maybe Biden won't do it, after all.

Assistant (Home) has already gone to shit and it's obvious they're just cruising. I fully expect they announce within a year or two that all of our assistant devices are deprecated and brick them. 'Cuz that's what Google does.

They removed all games AND custom 3rd-party apps. Just what, three stupid 'games' now -- "Tell a joke", "Crystal Ball" and "Tell me what any animal sounds like".

And when I say "Hey Google, play the latest episode of blah-blah- podcast" it always responds "Here's where you left off on blah-blah podcast..."

Like FFS, I said play the LATEST episode, not resume the previous episode I was playing. The workaround for this obvious, annoying and months-old bug is to instead say "Hey Google, play the -st episode of blah-blah podcast..." even if the "latest" episode was days ago. At least it plays the "latest" one.

Assistant is dying and they are obviously letting it die.

Yeah GR was a bit of a dick it seems...

Trivia: the lyrics are given in the songbook that comes with the Suzuki OmniChord, model OM-84, page 21 of the manual

The Omnichords sort of looked like a weird Vulcan instrument, which is fitting I guess.

It should be pointed out this was from Feb 2023, so not 'news'... however still worth highlighting how dangerous Russian windows appear to be, especially to those who are not performing in the "special operation" to Putin's liking.

He was still afraid to say he wouldn't vote for Trump, he just said he wouldn't vote for Biden and would vote Republican. So.... if Trump is the Republican candidate, what will he do? Note vote at all? Or... the obvious logical conclusion to his non-answer?

Such cowards.

I hope you're right. But the only reason it hasn't gone as far as it has it because everyone watches them and pushes back. I remember the ARM-based Windows laptops they tried pushing, which had fully-locked bootloaders (WinRT?) That's their endgame...

Freeze their stock ticker. Dissolve their corporate charter and sell the assets to the highest bidder (excluding any banks of equal/larger size, of course). Corporate death penalty needs to be a thing.

Remember Mitt Romney said it himeself! "Corporations are People, my friend". People can be jailed or executed, and have limited lifespans; so ...
