My city is one of the best places on earth to be trans, as far as being normalized and culturally-supported. The rest of this country is very not, but this oasis is pretty rad.

A lot of the humor is based on:

  • recent Marvel movies sure suck, eh?
  • here are some references to real old superhero movies - remember that time so-and-so got cast as so-and-so? Hilarious!

I enjoyed it, but it would help to have seen the other Deadpool movies (which are fun movies, I like them all) or at least know a little bit about comics/comic movies. Also X-men. This is a X-men movie.

Fall from Heaven for Civilization 4 is a fantastic overhaul mod that turns it into a fantasy world with interesting factions and characters and mechanics.

Last time I got a copyright letter was for torrenting Civ 4 in 2015 without a VPN. The game came out in 2005.

What of the people who lived in Crimea prior to 2014? No peace for them? I thought these were supposed to be Ukrainians living under occupation, why is their own country threatening them?

Most of the local articles I've seen make no distinction between the rally, the march, or the library occupation. I'll see if I can find anything better from smaller leftist sources.

I tried explaining PCM to a boomer friend of mine and it's a mercy that she did not seem to absorb any of the information.

Jokes and incel catastrophizing aside, lookism is indeed a thing with material consequences in society. People just like conventionally-attractive people more and that leads to preferential treatment.

If there is to be a right of return for Palestinians expelled during the Nakba and later, there's gonna be the question of what to do with all the Israelis who stole their land and homes. And that's not an insignificant portion of their current population.

Realistically, many citizens will flee just like with South Africa, but a Right of Return will bring some big complications beyond that.

First Thought mentioned them making gains, but what does that even mean? A couple miles (at most) out of the vast swathes that Russia controls? Russia only occupying 19% of the country instead of 20%? And in return they get to see that the wunderwaffen aren't quite as wunder as advertised.

A friend who considers themself an anarchist (they are a liberal) recently told me they were thinking of borrowing my copy of State and Revolution - after all, if voting doesn't work, we can always have a non-violent revolution to make things better, emphasis on the non-violence.

I chuckled and told them that revolution will always be violent because the bourgeoisie will always fight back. That they aren't interested in talking it out. They lost interest in the book and immediately changed subjects.

I don't think I'm very good at convincing people to Read Theory.
