Where do you live that cops deserve respect? Nobody DESERVES respect, least of all due to their shitty job. If you want respect you earn it, and cops have been doing the opposite (in north america) since their inception.

This doozy was shot just two days ago. I never thought I'd have a use for it on lemmy!

Thanks! I had thought the same.

It all felt so forced and scummy. I am going to go back and demand all the information (politely)

Location: Canada

Background: When I first started wearing glasses the optometrist would just give me a piece of paper that I could take to any shop to get my lenses made. Then they started refusing that paper and insisting I either leave my frames with them for two weeks, or that I buy new frames.

And now it seems like even asking for the script, or the measurements, is 'against policy'.

I recently went in for an eye exam and some new glasses, and the optician said something I have never been told before.

I had asked if they could give me the prescription for my sunglass lenses since they don't deal with the brand that I prefer, and he said that I would have to schedule another appointment at a shop that deals with that brand, because the prescription was not enough, and I would also need the measurements he took.

I asked if I could have those measurements and he said it was against policy.

Is he lying to try to get me to buy new frames from his shop? Or is there something to what he is saying?

Confession - When he walked away I took a picture of the measuring app he had used which seems to show all the measurements.

Would this be useful to another shop? I'm just trying to buy lenses without spending a fortune on yet another frame.

It all feels like a scam.

Some eye bleach to help you recover from this atrocity.

Why do the most voracious Xtian monsters always look like how you'd expect a demon in a skinsuit to look if demons were real?

I technically drowned when I was 12 and being an idiot 'riding' waterfalls. I got sucked into a big crack in a rock and when my friends finally got me out I was clinically dead, and all of my fingernails were ripped in half from trying to claw my way out. All I can remember is abject fear, and then the burning as my lungs gave up.

I would rather die by almost any other means.

Folks might want to check this moron's profile before welcoming them with open arms. This "person" is a troll of the first order.

The private servers have been up a while. But it is always hard for fan projects to gain traction for devs, players, or donations, when the IP could be yanked at any time. NCSoft granting a license should provide one heck of a shot in the arm for this cult classic game.

Go. Hunt. KILL Skul!

And here in Quebec we are paying ~~6CAD(4.50)usd for a dozen...~~ While not being embroiled in a war of our own design.

Correction: The 6CAD was for 18. That is what I get for checking grocery websites before coffee - It is more like 4CAD per dozen.

Alberta - I love me some mennonites, but they are really into 'keeping it in the family'.

-Source: Married a mennonite and absconded out of province with her.

We do what I call a shotgun standup twice a week. But it is done async 99% of the time.

Every Tuesday and Thursday we have 30 minutes that conveniently coincides with opening of the coffee shop in the office (two of us are onsite, six remote) prior to which the team is intended to write three bullets in the meeting chat:

  • Prio one yesterday - and outcome
  • Prio one today
  • Any blockers discovered for either of those

If nobody posts a blocker, then we get 30 minutes on the calendar where nobody from outside our team can schedule anything. And the onsite folks get the freshest coffee before everyone else gets down there.

If there is a blocker; the person who called it out and the most experienced person in dealing with that type of blocker will join the call, as will anyone interested in the outcome. Once the blocker is resolved, the solution is put into the same meeting chat.
