Do you have the clip by chance? Or better still, is there a cache of all the videos, articles and posts of Ukraine being a "totally normal democracy"? I remember there was a giant shareable document breaking down and debunking the Uyghur genocide myth a few years ago.
I agree. When the Russian intervention began and Western media did a huge crackdown on the truth, the only people I saw allowed to tell the Russian side on mainstream were MAGA crackpots who looked crazy doing it. Can't say there's no censorship, because the narrative is allowed on mainstream media, but presented from the side progressives hate and distrust the most. It's an insidious kind of manipulation.
I had forgotten about that.
Makes sense.
Unfortunately, I just heard the word going around that someone in the crowd died, so it does definitely appear at the very least real shots were going into the crowd. None of that has been verified, as far as I can tell, but I'm sure we'll get all the details by tomorrow if not in the next few hours. It's not looking good either way, sadly. You're right that the right wing is going to use this for all the mileage it'll get, stunt or not.
Mostly the new Space Marine game, I guess. A few other games I'm following don't have release dates yet.
I like my tree nuts, but why they have to make it so unethical to enjoy...?
True. But I meant that it feels like an execution. If I were middle-class and could, y'know, relax and enjoy life when I'm not working, I'd probably feel the darkest despair losing a position like that and effectively being blacklisted in the only career field I have experience in. I've always been poor, and am still struggling, still feeling the axe against the neck so to speak. I could only imagine how it must feel to think you're safe and prosperous, only to be thrust down to my position or worse (at least I have a job, and a promising career if I put my mind to it). If you're invested in paying off a house or car, in raising a family or sending a child to a nice school, and suddenly you lose the means to do so, well that just makes it worse.
It's just interesting to see that (on some level) even libs, who think we're so much better and kinder than other countries, recognize they could lose their cushy positions and descend to the level the majority of Americans are at. The fact that they know this implies they're aware of how fucked up it all is, but still they think what they fantasize about other countries doing is worse.
Have you ever watched "Midnight Mass" on Netflix? There's a Muslim sheriff in the small US town, and he talks about the same thing.
They have a need to justify their warped worldview. They believe we're evil authoritarians, and they are taught to hate authority (unless it aligns with their wants), and so they will harass and argue with us in bad faith until they are inevitably banned, all so they can say "See? They silence those they disagree with!" They have a martyr complex and think harassing people online by talking out of their ass is like standing up to tyranny. It helps them deal with the dissonance of believing they're free and righteous while supporting the most warmongering regime in human history.
I wish I'd seen it. Sounds darkly funny.
