I can't believe the old cold war fears of a Russian invasion of Sweden are actually coming true. Thanks, America. Fucking hell.

Look I don't want to sound like a downer and I'm happy for Charles and all, but it's hard not to have severe frustration at McLaren as your main takeaway from this race. They're being complete idiots and I simply don't understand it. Piastri should not be attacking Norris on lap one, he should protect him. Team orders suck, but you have to be ruthless if you want to be champion. But maybe they just don't care about winning?

I'm at least happy Albon got two good points, even though it was thanks to Magnusson's bone-headed penalty as Haas successfully undercut him. Shame Alonso missed out on a point by 19 hundreds, but AM just don't have the pace right now so can't complain.

I mean he's already insulted veterans so much that I struggle to see this making any difference. Remember when he called fallen soldiers "losers"^[1] and that he "prefers his war heroes that don't get captured"?^[2]

He will simply tell the companies they have to lower the prices, and they will say "no way" and he will say "way".

Problem solved.

Shapiro would have been the classic Dem pick. Lawyer, born politician, a pray for delivering an important swing state. Kelly would have been the "smart" choice - balances the ticket, cheap voter appeal, hard to question as a both combat decorated Navy captain and an astronaut.

But she went balls to the Walz, and you got to respect it. It's definitely a fearless all-in move. I hope they really capitalise on it. With the weird-rhetoric seemingly biting, Walz really is a perfect trump card to flood your side with sheer normalcy. I hope they use his backlog of social media stuff to full effect because the amount of friendly neighbour dad energy on display will take the wind out of the sails of any "no, you're weird" coming from Vance.

It's also a perfect invalidation of the coastal elites claim, and while the progressives-accusation is open, Walz has already proven great at answering it. "Oh no, he's feeding our children, what a monster!"

Toto just found his new bargaining chip.

On overall balance I think it's not too wild to filter this as a racing incident and leave it there, but I agree that even suggesting Lewis should have done more is strange. It's definitely on Max here.

I'm personally not too keen on the playersexual approach, though this article does provide some interesting viewpoints from creators of a couple of games written that way. Still, this admission from one of those creators

“What ends up happening is it feels not only like everyone is a little bit pansexual, but also nobody even sees gender, which is not real. That’s not an authentic way to build the world.

...and this from David Gaider

“We didn’t like how [playersexual] made the characters feel like they existed in service of the player; like they were there in the game to be a toy. [...] We felt like that wasn’t why those characters existed. That wasn’t the kind of game we were making. These characters were characters first, and they had their own stories, and the player could interact with them, but it wasn’t always about the player.”

pretty much summarize my feelings on the matter. And yes, I did feel this way about BG3 too.

This one hit hard, he was truly iconic. I haven't played Max Payne 1 or 2 for decades but I still remember his performance vividly. I wonder what will happen now with both Alan Wake 2 DLCs and the Max Payne remake on the horizon.

I agree completely. I'm even very forgiving when it comes to bugs and performance - especially when it's a studio I trust will address them - but the huge swaths of obviously cut content combined with the way the story wraps up really gets to me and left me massively disappointed. I too still love the game for the gameplay and Act 1 and 2, but it really didn't stick the landing in my opinion.

Even just things like the reactivity of your companions stands out; in Act 1 you could barely sneeze without everyone at camp chiming in with a comment about what just happened while in Act 3 you'll do massively impactful things in both main story and companion quests and be greeted by the standard "Well met" or "hello soldier" at camp.

And that's not getting into whatever scraps of the stated 17k different endings actually ended up not getting cut or the sorry state or the epilogues. Not even all companions get one!

I mean, isn't vanilla New Vegas pretty famously unoptimized? I think its performance has less to do with your hardware and more to do with the engine (hence this mod).
