Furthermore if israel felt like Iran was vulnerable to attack there is no reason israel would have stopped at one bombing run. If Iran felt it had lost its defensive capabilities that would be an existential threat and they would have had no choice to make decisive strikes.

israel forgetting that it had to back down is in line with their habit of believing their own propaganda lies.
