My favourite cuisines I've had which were not common ones you can just find on any high street here were mostly found during the height of covid when I was working quite a way from home but the hotel's restaurant was closed so I had to order delivery each night.
- Nigerian: Ordered this a few times, peppersoup, moin moin, draw soup, eba amongst the things I had. Soon after a West African section opened in my local supermarket so I could at least get some of the main ingredients to cook some at home.
- Ethiopian: Amazing, not tried cooking any yet, some ingredients seem hard to come by
- Afghan: Had a bunch of times as there was a restaurant in my town
- Sri Lankan: Love it, superficially similar to Indian food but I was surprised just how different it was and has become one of my favourites that I cook at home with regularity.
Nope, I had Gearheads on my old Windows 95 PC, absolutely loved it. Used to keep spamming the laser robot and bombs.

Are there any stats to suggest that? I don't mean in a "prove it or gtfo" kind of way but I maintain a community for the Pulsar text editor on lemmy.ml (back before it was cool /hipster) when there weren't really any other (popular) instances. We have no political ideology (as a group, not speaking for individuals within it) and it is meant to be a Fediverse alternative to our Subreddit for discussion and support. The last thing I want is for people to not have access to it because instances are blocking it or people are shying away from lemmy.ml in general.
I don't think much in this is specific to Discord so much as it is to chat/IM in general. Honestly we use both chat (yes via Discord although I'd love to move to Matrix) and forums. They just serve completely different roles. Traditional style forums (whatever it is, Discourse, Flarum, Github Discussions) work really well for "long form" topics and asynchronous conversations. i.e. if there is something to discuss that is complex and can attract valid conversation over the course of days/weeks/months then it is ideal.
Chat on the other hand is great for co-ordinating and asking quick one-off questions that will get you an answer really quickly. We use it all the time to just discuss general plans, ideas etc. and answer simple questions like "how do I do x?".
I think most of the (justified) hatred is to those projects that only have a community via chat which is valid - on big projects it can be somewhat difficult to get a word in and get noticed if you have a "simple" question which wouldn't be a problem on a forum.

I like a lot of pre-customised versions of GNOME like with Ubuntu or Pop!_OS but (and I'm currently using this on Fedora) the default "out of the box" GNOME experience is a bit rough and unfriendly. Sure I've got it customised now with some fancy top panel stuff but its still clear I just shoehorned in a bunch of GNOME extensions - and I'm still yet to find a tray that is 1) still supported and 2) to my liking.
My original Raspberry Pi model B I bought on release day, fighting the latency and downtime of the websites selling them. Never did much with it but was my introduction to SBCs.
What I actually use day to day are a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ which is attached to a 3d printer running Octoprint and a Pi 4 running as a small home server to host my NextCloud and IRC bouncer (amongst a couple of other things).
My favourite toy at the moment is actually my StarFive VisionFive 2 RISCV board, its been fun trying it out and getting applications to compile on it which don't officially support RISC-V.

Out of curiosity rather than necessity, are there any activitypub based messaging apps (i.e matrix/discord-like)?
One not listed is Ibis (https://ibis.wiki/) which hasn't had much traction. Honestly unsure of how useful it is as a direct wikipedia replacement but i can see it as a cool idea for a bunch of related communities that would otherwise be on separate wikis.
