I wasn't going to say anything, but I feel the urge to yell into the void.

I was in Taiwan for a week solo going hiking and loving the food (seriously the street food in Taipei is underhyped.) I'd booked a few nights in hong kong back to my home country to break up the journey and hike a few of the hills there. My first night there, I was feeling a bit lonely, not horny, just genuinely looking for some people to chat to. I'd been in Taiwan for a week and hadn't had a really good chat with anyone apart from my wife every few nights.

Reddit said there were some good pubs not far from my hotel, both were popular with foreigners and I thought I'd check them out and maybe get some insights on what to do some I was there. The first place I went to, I met 2 German guys and had a good couple of hours long chat, but they had work the next day and went home. I wasn't ready to go to bed yet, so I went to the next one. Reddit had said it was popular with prostitutes, but I loved my wife and was confident I could handle them.

I got there, a nice cover band was playing, so I bought a beer and sat down to watch and see if anyone might be interested in having a chat. Almost immediately girls started flinging themselves at me, which really annoyed me so I tried my best to ignore them. They were wrapping themselves around my arm and trying to sit on my lap and I thought "fuck it, I'm finishing my beer and going home. " One of them must've put something in my beer, because my memory immediately goes and next thing I know I'm in a different bar with two girls touching me all over and buying drinks with my card (luckily my bank knew something was off and cancelled it. )

They order us a cab and the whole time I'm saying i don't want anything to do with either of you. They take me up to my room, presumably to see if there's anything worth stealing. I'm with it enough by now to tell them to just go, they ask if they use my toilet, I say yes and then they leave. I go to sleep and don't wake up for 18 hours.

My main reason I'm telling this is to get out of my chest, but yeah, my experience was shite

Checking on it from Australia and it looks like pure Trump branding now

Question about the numbers generated. As i understand it, ~50% of republican voters were in favour of the measure where republicans make up one third of the population. So this means 15% of the US population is in favour of the measure? Is that right?

If you don't vote, you don't get to complain about the results

As an Aussie I didn't get this joke, we just get up and pay

I work in an underground mine and sometimes when I'm waiting for someone to come pick me up, I torn my cap lamp off and sit on a rock. It's the darkest dark you can imagine. No shadows, no pin pricks of light just your thoughts. All you can hear is the sound of moving air and the occasionally the rock moving.

It's genuinely peaceful and so so relaxing. Definitely had some philosophical moments down there

Not OP but I use bandcamp so I can pay the artist a decent amount rather than what ever Spotify does. Not sure if the new owner has increased the cut they take though

As I'm Australian, I can't do much haha. But I do know that the vibe on corporations and monoplane monopolies is being imported into Australia from the US particularly around our supermarkets and airlines

Honestly I'm fine with this. We have so many old mines in a completely tectonically stable environment away from the water table as well as a few remote locations to serve as ports. They just better pay us
