For the record, I only downvoted you because of the multiple edits whining about being downvoted.

That’s like watching porn with your parents level of cringe right there.

Yeah, that’s not really what bail is and this will confuse people who don’t know.

Paying bail money doesn’t reduce time off your sentence, it makes it to where you don’t have to spend the duration of your trial in jail. After the trial, you’ll still have to spend the same amount of time in jail as you would have if you paid bail or not. Also, you get back your bail money at the end of trial as long as you don’t flee.

I saw this post which references a 2nd picture in the body of the post, but I can’t, for the life of me do anything to get it to display within Voyager.

If I click on the link button, it opens up in my browser and I can see both pictures. I was wondering if this is a bug in Voyager or if there’s something on my end that’s borked.

I disagree, back in the 60s it was totally possible to find a decent paying job, have a couple of kids, buy a house to store them in, get a new car every few years, send your kids off to school, go on vacations and retire at an age old enough to enjoy some time with the grandkids. Now that really isn’t a reality for the average person.

So, I don’t want to block all NSFW communities. However, I do want to pick and choose which ones that I see. As a result, I end up blocking a lot of them, and each and every time it asks me if I want to block that specific community or all NSFW. Is there a way you can add a “don’t ask me again” option for this, or maybe only ask the first (2-3?) time(s)? It’s also pretty easy to accidentally hit the block all NSFW option since it’s the top one and then you have to end up going to the settings and turning it off again. I feel like it would be a lot more user friendly if it only asked you this once instead of every single time.

Thanks.

So I was just browsing Lemmy using the web version of my instance and noticed that when I clicked on a user it took me to a page that looks like they have customized it with profile banners, info, links, etc. I have been using Voyager or Memmy for 99.999% of my Lemmy usage up until this point, and literally didn’t even know this profile section existed for users.

Is there a way to access this page within Voyager? Because if so, I can’t seem to find it.

It’s becoming increasingly necessary to be able to tell what instance a community is being posted to.

I realize this might be a huge/impossible ask, but I figured I’d try anyway. I would like to be able to see comments posted in communities that I have blocked if I click on someone’s profile. Especially if I click on my profile. I know they right now blocking is done through Lemmy and it’s probably a lot of work to go through and change that, but I really wish it behaved like Apollo did with Reddit. When you blocked a subreddit it wouldn’t show up in your /r/all feed but you could still click on someone’s profile and see posts and comments that they made in those subs. I really liked that and wish there was a way to make that happen here. I just made a comment in a community and then blocked it, but I still want to be able to see replies to it and check how many upvotes/downvotes it received. Any chance of making this happen in Voyager?

Apple TV doesn’t have ads at all. If that’s all you care about, I would say go for that.

The Firestick isn’t really jailbreakable per se, but it doesn’t really need to be. You can sideload things with extreme ease. There’s a pretty decent app that allows you to watch YouTube with no ads or sponsored content shown. That alone is worth the cost of a Firestick for me. It does have some ads in the menu, but they’re not super obtrusive and never bothered me much. Plus the cost is much lower. You used to be able to put a different launcher on the Firestick and never see any Amazon content at all (ads) but they fixed that a while back and I haven’t bothered to see if that works again, but for all I know it might.

Edit: it does.

Impressive, I guess, but how many of those 2 million posts have a single comment? If 90% of these are just bots reposting things from Reddit with no further engagement…

So you passed math but failed reading, eh?

I have an iPhone, and I don’t think I’m better than anyone else.

Well, except for people who judge other people based on what type of phone they carry. Those people are douchebags.

[-] Ilikecheese@lemm.ee 18 points 1 year ago

To clarify, the reposting doesn’t bother me at all. I have the memory of a goldfish when it comes to things like this and even when It’s something I know I’ve seen before, I still don’t mind unless it’s literally something I’ve seen dozens of times before and it’s been reposted within the last day or so. Reposting isn’t the problem here, and I disagree with your assessment that most communities frown upon them. Sure, you usually get 1-2 people whining about how they’ve seen this content before, but I have to think those people are in the slim minority. If this was a place for all new, never before seen, original content, that would be in the rules. It isn’t.

I also disagree when you say reposts aren’t creative, or I guess I disagree that all content posted here needs to be super creative. This site and Reddit are aggregators and exist solely for people to post things they found amusing or funny. There’s no reason to slam someone’s creativity just because they saw something they were amused by and wanted to share it with people who would likely be amused by it too. It doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that.

I just wanted some descriptive thread titles so I have an idea what I’ll be seeing when I click on something. I wasn’t trying to insult anyone’s effort by making that request and I apologize to any posters who thought that’s what I was doing.

Really getting tired of seeing references to everything here being a repost from Reddit. We get it, this place needs content and posting old stuff is a quick and easy way to do that. Maybe you don’t need to point that out in the title of every single post you make?

[-] Ilikecheese@lemm.ee 35 points 1 year ago

updoot

Can that “word” please die with Reddit?

[-] Ilikecheese@lemm.ee 46 points 1 year ago

This was a problem on reddit too, and it looks like it’s carried over here. People make new communities and just assume that everyone in the future who finds it will just automatically know the purpose.

[-] Ilikecheese@lemm.ee 36 points 1 year ago

Another kink to think about is what if you have different communities with the same name on different servers with completely different content. Like what if the trees subreddit came to a server and created a marijuana themed community called trees, but then another server wanted to discuss actual trees so they called theirs trees too. Wouldn’t want those two being grouped together automatically.
