When you don't know any history perhaps you should read first then comment.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_Democratic_Struggle

As I said, S.Korea is just one example where peaceful protests brought democracy.

So I don't know how the Russian/Ukrainian war is going to go. I mean Trump is such a wild card it's hard to say. But I want to point out that your comment:

that tyranny doesn’t go away by asking nicely. Never has, never will.

Is very wrong. The weirdest thing is you state if you're paying attention. Well, if you're paying any attention what so ever, you'll see that tyranny regularly gets displaced by asking nicely. In fact, in recent history we have South Korea with a peaceful democratic transfer, Taiwan which also had a peaceful democratic transfer, Singapore and many others. And that's just recent history. Let alone all the Kingdoms that were displaced by democracy in history such as the UK. Heck, the UK still has a monarch and yet run in a democracy because of how peaceful the transfer was. Thailand as well. I could go on, but I think you get the point. In fact one of the MOST COMMON ways to go from Monarchy/Dictatorship to democracy is a peaceful transfer. Obviously that doesn't always happen, but it's quite common to simply ask nicely.

*Edit: Actually Ukraine ITSELF was a peaceful transfer from tyranny to democracy. That's the REASON Putin is angry and jealous of them. I mean you don't even have to look outside of the combatants to see a peaceful transfer. Which is gone now, but that doesn't take away that it happened.

Aaaand... we're upvoting comments of people that obviously have not read the article.

New court documents filed in the US shows that Russian authorities “seized” Google’s money from their bank account in Moscow in 2022 around the time Putin invaded Ukraine.

This happened at the time of the initial invasion and this article is just talking about the lawsuit over it.

So, unless your trying to imply that Google should have been able to see the future, your comment is inappropriate. I only point this out because you're so highly voted up and are clearly spreading misinformation.

This makes me question what it takes to be a super power. Between this and the leading cause of US bankruptcies being medical related, it's almost as if super powers can only be super powers if they don't give any of their citizens healthcare. It's as if working their citizens to death is the only way for them to maintain their hedgemony.

So I want to be upfront and say I don't really agree with their argument, but I do understand it. What Russia and China are saying is by tying the ceasefire to the release of hostages is unfair to the Palestinian side. This is because they lose all leverage and then would be easy targets for Israel who doesn't seem to mind bombing Palestinian civilians.

My issue is that technically the only reason their bombing is because of the hostages and perhaps if they release the hostages peace talks can begin. The opposite of that argument is it will allow Israel to be even more aggressive after the temporary cease fire is ended.

I don't know, but that's the argument.

Yes, but this is happening in the states too yet we don't have this kind of insanity. For example, onlyfans is basically a website dedicated to monetizing incels. But there's an implicit understanding that those actresses have their own lives. For some reason, in S.Korea they're not allowed to have their own lives. It's bizarre no matter how you look at it.

Yeah this is a bad meme. The whole point of machine learning is to do minutely different things over millions of generations to see differences and their effects. It's the exact opposite of doing the same thing and expecting different results. Machine learning is the summation of millions of differences.

The funny thing is the electoral college was designed to counter exactly this event. In the case an absolute tyrant is going to get voted in, the electoral college is supposed to be the last chance to challenge it. But with the way the GOP is going, ain't no one gonna challenge anything.

As they say, the devil will come bearing a cross wrapped in the American flag.

The problem with your comparison with Taiwan is Taiwan is an island that is part of China but is currently controlled by an occupying force. This is agreed upon by almost all nations except for 12, the US also agrees on this btw.

What the west is saying is that regardless of this, China does not have the right to an armed resistance against Taiwan even though they consider it part of China. They even agreed to arm Taiwan to prevent this attack from happening.

So in terms of their statement on Palestine, this is actually consistent. The Palestinians have a right to kick out their occupiers, much like China has the right to kick out Taiwan's occupiers.

You view it differently, but as I stated before almost all members of the UN agree Taiwan is part of China.

*Edit: On a personal level I don't actually agree with this. I don't want an invasion of Taiwan. I'm merely pointing out the "gotcha" you tried to set up doesn't actually make sense. Instead it's actually quite consistent with China's position on Taiwan.

*Edit 2: This is also why China seems petty and runs around making sure all nations that trade with China state there's only one China. That's what the whole Lithuania thing was about. China is stating if the majority of the UN believes in a 2 party solution, then the Palestinians have a right to defend themselves. Since the majority of UN believes in a 1 party solution for Taiwan, then it's the Taiwanese who are the occupiers and China has a right to defend itself.

*Edit 3: Ironically, the same cannot be said for China's consistency on the SCS. If you wanted a "gotcha" then China's claim to the SCS is absurd. But that said, they never said it was OK for them to be in an armed conflict over that. So I guess take that how you will.

What's crazy to me is Putin had such an opportune chance to control the narrative and try to pull the far right to his side. He could have done this by speaking to anti-LGBTQ stuff or talk about traditional families. But instead he spent his time talking about a perverse Russian history that some how blames Poland for Hitler's aggression.

Putin had a chance to control the narrative, but instead ranted on like a crazy old man. So win for the west, but what a strange story.

As insane as this is, fentanyl has surpassed alcohol deaths.

https://drugabusestatistics.org/alcohol-related-deaths/#:~:text=95%2C000%20Americans%20die%20from%20alcohol-related%20causes%20annually%3B%2068%2C000,health%20consequences%20of%20drinking%20too%20much%20over%20time.

And alcohol is massively damaging. Just want to put that in perspective. So I guess booze up cause alcoholics have to catch up?

I am 100% for this as a country showing it's strength vs our current war paradym. Hopefully, Putin gets in on this and gets too stoned to continue the war.
