I think you're misunderstanding me. Conflict is not war, two companies selling a similar product are in conflict. I don't think Google is sending a hit squad to Microsoft because of their competition.

China clearly wants to compete with USA on multiple levels, they've been doing this since the country was reformed under communism. It's not like they even pretended anything otherwise. From Mao to Deng to Xi China has always said it will develop in it's own way and will confront any one who tries to disturb the peace of the country. Sure enough, from the moment China was reformed, USA has constantly disturbed the peace of the country. Thus, China has always known they were in conflict with the US. It's only now they're strong enough to make it clear they want to be left alone and will use their military if it comes to it.

So yes, even though it's defensive (and I'm not saying countries shouldn't be defensive) China has wanted this conflict. They have every right to this conflict as it's literally the sovereignty of their nation, but it's still wanting conflict. One that they have a clear path to victory.

I agree. I just get really angry when people hide uncomfortable facts because they're "our team". Uncritically supporting anyone is what leads to things like the current Gaza genocide. Yes, Jewish people massively suffered historically and in the recent attack, no that does not justify non-discriminatory bombing of civilians.

Here's citibank telling their investors about it.

https://www.citigroup.com/global/insights/citigps/china-s-inward-turn-

It's been going on for a while, the article is from 2020.

My personal opinion is this move is highly risky, but could produce massive rewards. We're in the third year of this and China still suffers from deflation from lack of internal demand matching former exports.

But China seems dead set on this regardless of risks. This is why there are so many China collapsing articles. The actions to do this aren't great for the economy on a global term, but in the long run may make China more durable. Who knows, this is so different than what everyone is doing it's kind of uncharted.

See, you don't know and try to force your narrative on others. And if we actual Taiwanese people tell you no, you mansplain it to us. This is why I hate people like you.

[-] Joncash2@lemmy.ml 5 points 10 months ago

I said they wanted status quo. Which we do. You people keep telling us it's about independence. It's not.

Psst, here's a secret, it wasn't important. The western media made it seem way more important than it was. If it was so important and war could have actually happened, then it would have already.

Yes, it is. It's been like this for decades now. So the fact that it's surprising and used in a way to shock western audiences tells you a lot does it not?

*Edit: Mind you, I'm not for Taiwan being absorbed into China nor am I strong on Taiwan's independence. I just want to point out the way western propaganda works to manipulate people.

*Edit 2: Essentially, if the KMT has been talking like that for decades and the Taiwanese still vote for them in large enough numbers to win them most of the seats last election, what does that tell you about the Taiwanese people's desire for independence? How does the media report on that? Why are these two pieces of information so conflicting.

Convection, but like much more than a regular convection oven. If a regular convection oven is a tortoise, the air fryer is a car. It has a much larger fan to push the hot air around the food.

As to why it tastes better, that's because of the maillard reaction. Basically crispy brown bits good and air fryer makes lots of crispy brown bits.

The funny thing is that people think China would disagree with that map, yet that map is exactly what China claims. In fact, Taiwan claims far more than that map, so the only source of disagreement technically would be on the naming. However, China, or Sino wouldn't actually care. You think China is the name they gave themselves or even use or say that term? That was a Western nomenclature put upon them in the first place.

China's largest gas company is called sinopec, not chinapec. So that weird name change is meaningless to them. If that made the west happy so they could take over Taiwan, they'd do it in a heartbeat.

Pretty much nothing. Fentanyl for China is about an alliance with Mexico. China wants to be in USA's backyard. So this isn't a money thing for them. I expect the outcome of this is a shift to the precursor production in Mexico. There's not going to be a decrease in fentanyl for sure.

But since Mexico is already terrified of the US after Republicans said they wanted to invade, Mexico already let China's military come to work with them.

So all in all this is just a propaganda win for Biden. China's more than happy to just let Mexico make all the fentanyl themselves as long as Mexico continues to be friendly.

Pfft the democrats are in on it. Just look at Pelosi getting away with insider trading. They're all in on it together, there aren't republicans and democrats there's the corrupt government taking our money.

Don't forget Clinton and Trump both liked visiting Epstein's island.

That's not what I said at all. I'm not even sure what you're on about.
