I wish I could live in your fantasy world, mate, but it's never going to happen. The ideological divide has mutated beautifully into full-on trench warfare between camps of cheerleaders/fans. There are more than enough of the 'other' in positions that matter to make the machine's gears keep turning.

I think the part that threw me as a child was when the central tower area raised a platform when you raised the water level. The camera super focuses on the new hole, but I never saw it. Cue the endless frustration that I had to overcome by looking up a guide.

It's happened more often than you'd think. Usually there is something that makes it happen, like falling through tree branches or into something like a snow bank, but it happens enough that it pops up in trivia from time to time.

That's the way it is in the several company videos I've had to watch. In a cynical manner, it's all about denying as many targets to the shooter as possible. If everyone is in the hall running, that's a lot of easily accessible targets, and it's harder to miss. If they all hide in locations, it makes it take longer per victim, as the shooter has to seek and find targets.

The 'not significant' part could be due to low numbers in general, so they can't get the variances small enough to get low p numbers. It's a quote that I can't quite remember perfectly that is well known in sociology/psychology: "The only reason our findings aren't significant is because we're too damn lazy to drag enough people in for the study."

That would be the most understandable portion of the whole shindig. Fungi are a major idea (and everywhere in science fiction) for how to deal with interstellar travel because of their unique niche in the various cycles of life. I would bet an alien species that can travel through the vast reaches of space would also be familiar with using biotechnology.
