Of course the wall has the added benefit that we can load the maple MAGA crowd onto busses, take them to the wall, and hurl them over to MAGAland.

How absurdly reductive.

It's not about, "word use", it's about protecting the most vulnerable of our children.

Stop trolling, we see right through your reductive nonsense.

Woo!

Now to get rid of the christofascists in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Then Doug fucking Ford in Ontario.

It's "basically saying to people, 'Look, you can do things that other people would say are immoral or unethical in terms of your voting decisions, and you can get away with it because the voting booth is private,'" Saunders said.

They said the quiet part out loud.

I've been dating this for a while. If you look at the things that the christofascists call people who disagree with them they tell the whole story.

Progressive - they're bad for looking forward and for making you feel bad for looking backwards.

Woke - they're bad for being aware of social issues and making your feel bad for being ignorant about them.

Intellectual elitists - they're bad for being smart and making you feel dumb.

Tolerant - they're bad for accepting that people who make you feel icky exist and making you feel bad for hating and fearing them.

It's all about how they feel about themselves and that they feel that they are constantly being avoided for being ignorant, intolerant, regressive hicks. It's about their seething resentment and manipulating it to convince them to vote against their own self-interest instead of helping them to be better.

So, vote your fear, anger, hatred, and intolerance like no one is watching.

"We want our pilots to be entirely free from any financial consideration when they take a safety-related decision," WestJet CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech said

Safety related delays and cancelations are not the problem. The airlines not having enough staff to fly the planes is the problem. Poor planning by the airlines is the problem. Lying and calling those YOU problems safety problems IS the ptoblem.

The loophole is allowing airlines to call any delay or cancellation a "safety issue" to deny passengerd compensation.

We pay for a an agreed service at an agreed time. If the airlines don't provide the service as and when described we should be compensated. The government is just closing a loophole that allows the airlines to decide how, when, and even if they are going to provide the service we paid for.

Good.

You know what matters a lot more than balancing budgets? Defining public transit as a true public service and making sure the people who depend on it the most, those who have few other options to get to where they need to be, have transit available to them when they need it at a cost they can afford.

This is the problem. Public transit is seen as a service used by poor people. In Europe public transit is used by everyone because it is the best, fastest option to get to where you are going. When I travel to London I take the train from the airport to Victoria station them walk to my hotel. Everywhere else I go is by tube or by train. I have never rented a car and only hired a van when I had a group of people and a bunch of luggage to move a long distance.

If public transit worked (Ottawa LRT anyone?) and we stopped making traveling by car convenient, people would use public transit.

Everyone needs to calm the fuck down. Sure there isn't enough of our tax money left to pay to get our kids to school but Doug Ford had ouch left to build a $400 million parking garage for a private spa being built on private land under a 99 year secret lease. I'm not sure day everyone is at host about. He also managed to give his rich developer friends a $8 billion Dr during a national housing crisis to build million dollar homes far away from city centers where they're desperately needed.

Not "peaceful".

There was nothing "peaceful" about the constant honking, the threats and intimidation, the insults and slurs. There was nothing peaceful about the harassment of small business that resulted in hundreds shutting down for three weeks putting thousands of hourly workers, many working paycheque to paycheque, with families to support out of work.

Everyone knows that when a child screams at the top of its lungs and refuses to move until it gets its way that it's throwing a temper tantrum. That's what the "protest" in Ottawa was. A bunch of full grown children throwing down, honking their horns and refusing to move until they got their way. They were tantrumists and they got spanked. Tammy Lich is going to get spanked harder than most.

I think that if you step out of your echo bunker and look around that the "many Canadians" you believe support her are actually a small, delusional minority. The rest of us are done with this fucking tantrumist false patriot bullshit.

As it should be.

The problem is that every single thing a Conservative does is designed to look like is helping the common man when its actually helping the wealthy and corporations. Dig for us going to make land available for 50,000 units of urban sprawl? Million dollar houses that only the upper middle class can afford and 8 billion dollars of benefit to his wealthy friends. They weave a good story that the least of us believe while the entire time funneling billions and billions of dollars of the tax money paid by the least of us to the wealthiest of us and corporations. What we need is good management and good social programs. We're not going to get that combination from either party so I would rather have social programs while they try to figure it out.

This is classic right wing "humor". They get butt hurt because we make fun of them so they think that humor just means hurting the other guys. They try, and fail, and we laugh at them which makes them even more butt hurt.

I was in Spain at the beginning of the pandemic. The bodies they were stacking in the back of army trucks because their mortuary system had collapsed were not fine.

If you make being petulant your entire identity...

Willing to be cut open, have an organ removed, and replaced with an organ from a dead person but not willing to have a safe and effective vaccine because it became part of her political identity. I suspect that it was ego that prevented her from accepting the vaccine once she had made up her mind.

[-] MapleEngineer@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 year ago

It became a matter of political identity. Rejecting Covid, the science, the vaccine, and the reasonable public health measures became more important to them that life itself.

I know it sounds dumb that the butter chicken kit contains neither butter nor chicken but trust me, they're awesome.

Homemade Naan (lemmy.ca)

I'm working on making decent naan at home. My Indian coworkers are trying to help. It was better the second day after fermenting overnight. I hope that bread flour and a new recipe will improve it even more.
