The PS5 doesn't even have a browser because they're scared of exploits

Why not just have some hardened Firefox with auto updates instead of licensing a browser from a company specialized in exploitable browsers for consoles? Nobody uses netfront, why Sony and Nintendo are so obsessed with it?

That man has the attention span of a goldfish, probably didn't even watch it to that point, just saw the Trump flags and then the ego forced a repost

I'm kinda hoping it was just that a state sponsored attacker showed up on their door and said "include this snippet or else..." otherwise it's terrifying thinking of someone planning some long con like this

We are all relying on the honesty of a few overworked volunteers...

This post is ironic, but the united states by showing their muscles and forbidding Huawei to use newer arm CPU designs or x86 chips without a specific export license, let the Chinese government to create a secret multibillion fund for RISC -V development

Yes but the reason I purchased from play store (which has the side effect of donating an undeserved 30% to google) was that I could easily share the access with the family without too much effort, just send a link to them 😢

Or worse, ban you from their GitHub repository without any reply or explanation

Fuck

So now I have to contact all the family members where I removed the bloatware and replaced with the smt apps, uninstall them before the "just 39 euro per week for adfree" subscription scam starts, find suitable replacements, train people to get used to new icons...

The Mac BIOS can update during a standard OS update without indicating that you’ll brick the machine if it powers off for any reason

I hate Apple, but my Lenovo does exactly the same. It fucking installs BIOS updates automatically without any warning. Once, after a reboot it was hanging too much on a black screen and I thought it just froze, so I forced a shutdown by long pressing the power button. Luckily the BIOS restored via the fallback, but that wiped the TPM for some reason and because windows 11 on laptops automatically encrypts the drive with bitlocker I might have lost everything (luck again, I'm part of the 1% of the bitlocker users that actually keep an offline backup of the encryption key)

At least (I'm guessing, never bought any M1 Mac and will never do it) apple should be smart enough to disable the power button during BIOS updates, and maybe postpone the update on a low battery, leaving the danger only to desktop users

Actually, the guide doesn't mention how to dual boot, it's how to install Linux bare metal as the only os.

Otherwise they wouldn't have removed the possibility to easily boot Linux from the windows boot manager instead of grub

Is it something actually open source if

  1. It requires a proprietary backend, kept secret

  2. Not a single pull request is approved, all contributions are ignored for years, then finally rejected

  3. The issue tracker is kept secret

?

I'd like to set nautilus to show hidden files, but I can't stand the amount of "trash" there's in home

Everyone is thinking "my app is the best, it totally deserves a ~/.myappisthebest directory"
