I'm talking about things like:

most realistic physics most aesthetically pleasing sea most fun to play most immersive (pun intended (I'll sea myself out)) most activities available at sea most variety of sea going vessels

Games with impressive seas that I've played so far:

Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Triremes and heaving seas) Just Cause 3 (Sparkling blue mediterranean seas) Sea of Thieves (Monsters and pirates) Sailwind (Gentle seas and actual sailing mechanics) Silent Depth 2 Pacific (Sneaky WW2 subs) Cold Waters (Sneaky modern subs) Uboat (Beautiful WW2 seas, rare shooting opportunities) Subnautica (Thalassophobia and crafting)

I've also noticed that Ships at Sea has just gone on sale. If you've played it recently was it any good?

It's such an overcrowded genre isn't it? I mean it's ridiculous how many top down games there are out there... I've played so many now, they just blend into each other.

Are there any top down games that do something different (or the same but really really well). For example, my last really positive experiences with this format were Desperados 3 and Shadow Gambit The Cursed Crew.

...worst user-reviewed by online players. Single players are like "Hey neat, better quality, better optimisation, 1st person mode and free. Thanks".

Trello 100% fixed that for me. Also, as someone who NEEDS my little dopamine reward whenever I do a task I found a little trick. If you put the 🎉 (party horn emoji) in the title of a list it blows a bunch of confetti over the screen whenever you drag a task into that list 😁

I played this when it first came out and loved it so much. Unfortunately, as it developed it just went in a bunch of directions that made it less and less fun to play. I still try and play it occasionally but there's so much that gets in the way of enjoying it now. It feels like it got the "too many chefs" treatment and now it's just not anything like as much fun as it was. I'm not joking when I say it kind of broke my heart to see it basically loose it's way so much. It also still struggles with an issue they've never really resolved which is that when your town grows and your workers end up having to travel further and further away from their workplaces everything becomes inefficient. Every town I've made eventually spirals down into this issue and you can't just delete all the houses and force people to build homes nearer their workplaces cos it's insanely expensive and produces very unpredictable results. It's just a shame. TL;DR Used to be great but is kind of not great now (in my opinion of course. Your mileage may vary).

There's a relationship cheat code I use all the time. It usually stops everything in it's tracks and sets you on a much more positive path, especially if they're not used to you doing this. When you find yourself at that point in a conversation where you're about to shout something like "OH FFS! WHAT'S THE MATTER NOW?!" instead... you pause, look at them, tilt your head a bit, narrow your eyes thoughtfully and say as calmly as you can "What do you need?". No matter how mad they get after that you just keep asking that question until they respond to it. If you haven't done that before it may take them a while to even notice you asked that question. Just keep going. Oh also top tip... when they tell you what they need don't invalidate it. It's hard for a lot of people to directly tell you what they actually need. If they do then they're trusting you to listen. Breaking that trust will take you right back to square one.

Genuinely would love to see a list of Steam games that don't rely on that premise.

I'd love to know what percentage of the Earth's population would be totally fine with an asteroid taking us all out. I'd be willing to bet it's higher that it's ever been.

I think the thing that's the most confusing about this is why did they wait??

"The timing is particularly baffling: Nintendo did not strike when the iron was hot and everyone was talking about Palworld and Pokémon, and at this late date, why bother? The greatest heights of Palworld's success were clearly driven by the memetic catchiness of its Pokémon parody, now it's just another survival crafting game with a stable enough core community—see also Valheim or Sons of the Forest. Palword has faded into the background, a brief curiosity overshadowed by 2024's far more enduring megahit, Helldivers 2. Just in time for everyone to have largely forgotten about Palworld and moved on, Nintendo has swooped in to announce: "In case you've forgotten, they're the little guy, and we are huge, awful bullies."

Palworld has reportedly made nearly $500 million now (source - Simon Carless). Even if Nintendo win in some way won't it cost them so much more to take Pocket Pair down now?

I really, really wanted to like this game. I love the look and feel of it so much but I just needed a clearer bit of hand holding to figure out what I was supposed to do. It's so open ended and I could never really tell if I was on the right track. I love the idea of crawling through vents, interrogating people, sneaking about and putting together pieces of evidence but it was just too overwhelming for me. I wish there was a guide that just explained simply how you're supposed to play but I haven't found one yet.

Trump claiming he won regardless and trying to create as much trouble as possible is the most likely election outcome. I'm not getting my hopes up until President Kamala Harris is in the Whitehouse having a nice cup of tea. In fact after the last few years I'm not getting my hopes up about anything ever again unless there's absolute proof that it's real.

Well I can't draw is the issue. I used Copilot to make the panels and then fiddled around with them to make the cartoon. That's why it's not signed cos I'm not trying to say I'm clever or anything lol. It was just a cool experiment that helped me explore some ADHD related ideas.

For me it's coffee + environment. If I'm just at home chilling then the effect of drinking coffee is very mild. If I'm at a business networking event, for example, it can really trigger my hyper behaviours. I get extremely enthusiastic, creative and happy.

By the way, one of these business networking meetings I go to is exclusively for business owners with ADHD and I can't tell you how much fun that is!

It's basically 15 people happily talking over each other and not taking it personally and 5 or 6 who didn't turn up because they thought it was another day. We have one neurotypical person there to try and tether the ballons that we are down into some sort of coherent group but it is wonderfully chaotic :)
