That's a good point.

And from everything we see it really seems like the IDF really doesn't gaf about collateral damage either, so they probably didn't care that they'd give any of these away to other people.

Extreme sports was more supposed to be an example. Horror movies are the same.

People go out of their way to feel scared, what would aliens think of that?

I don't think there is a solution.
Effective moderation to protect vulnerable people needs more centralization. Avoiding the influence of bad-actor mods needs more decentralization. The two seem fairly mutually exclusive. Or rather, they trade off against each other.

With more users, having a fractured community wouldn't be a huge problem, because they could all have critical mass. But with the current user base that is generally not feasible, even for really popular topics.

Using copilot designer. Prompt:

!a model train set on a workbench, next to a window and lit by moonlight. the scene is eeriely beautiful. highly detailed still life oil painting.!<

I wonder how it'd have turned out if I could spell. (Actually I know, and it didn't turn out any better)

promptA bard has knocked over a party of 10 warriors, using the force of his energetic flute playing. the music is visible in the air. the warriors are comically laid out on their backs, in a semicircle in front of the bard. the image should be realistic, and the background should be a medieval town square.

I like how he seems to be having a musical fart, too.

I don't like meta as a company.

But I don't want to exclude a bunch of people just because they decided to use a server owned by meta. It's not like the server is a community dedicated to hurting people or promoting hate speech or something, and I don't want to punish people just because they're not savvy enough to understand the problems with meta. Let them federate and just don't follow any of them if you're not interested in any of them.

Defederating isn't going to benefit us or hurt meta, it's just gonna hurt the people who use threads.

Does c/funny exist? What's the syntax for mentioning a community again? !funny@lemmy.ml ?

What other route even is there?

Either you discount things added later, so you discount everything and there is nothing left. Or you don't discount things just because they were added later, in which case this quote still stands.

But in the winter that takes the burden off the heating system, as long as they're using windows with decent insulation.
