On top of all this you can't access your account without accepting new ToS. After login web page show full window modal form with one button "confirm" so you can't reject it. I'm sure most of HN readers can handle this minor obstacle ;-) After I asked vultr for access to my account without acceptance of new ToS they wrote me back legal slur suggesting I may host questionable content:

(...) you take the necessary measures to protect minors from accessing harmful material on your website.

(...) requirements apply to you, including removing any infringing content and safeguarding minors.

and threaten me with "law enforcement agencies"

Bravo, bravo...

Hi, some years ago (2019) I purchased landscaping program 'Punch! Deck & Landscape' from punchsoftware.com. I wanted to install it on new computer but on-line registration of license key failed.

Their support said that I need to buy new version and gave me 20% discount.

They seems to not care that purchased software had lifetime license:

"Unfortunately with changes in technologies the registration server that the older programs used were rendered obsolete and thus rendered the older programs (v20 and older) unsupportable. This is why we offer the discounts to customers who have those older programs."

...

"As newer product is released, they replace the older versions, thus the upgrade systems that are in place for customers who have the older products, so they do not have to purchase new product regularly at full retail pricing. "

Is there any way to fight those assholes? The company is located in US.

Were doing what we can. I wouldn't call it propaganda. Please also consider each country GDP. Everyone have limited resources. Poland GDP is 5 times smaller than Germany or Japan and 36 times smaller than US

No it's not. Where are some reliable proofs for that?

[-] Pietrasagh@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Links or proofs?

Barbecue sausages are also carcinogenic. What matters is how much and in what doses. Hey WHO: Show me scientific, peer revieved, reproduced in independed labs papers with solid proofs. Not preliminary results of "one research". Then I will weigh pros and cons and decide if I should use it. Strangely decades of use under supervision of FDA and other reputable institutions had no remarks like WHO. Don't forget that dihydrate monoxide also promote cancer, and we all drink it like water.
