As a software developer: MS has been 100X better to work with under Nadella. He may not know what to do with the operating system side of things, but the .NET/Azure/android/linux etc side has never been healthier.
"everyone who disagrees with me is a chud"
Why would they intentionally screw up so badly idk.
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
They probably started with an overambitious design, took some ill-advised short-cuts, and pivoted the to the "extraction" format after they'd already marketed it as a different concept, and made a bad gamble or two. Normal gamedev stuff. Same as every Molyneux game.
A few years back this could've been another No Man's Sky story where they fix it after launch... but that means going deeper and deeper into debt while you salvage the mess you've made. Post-COVID interest rates make that impossible. So now they're broke and the project they spent the last years on is a stinker and they don't have enough runway to fix it.
So they're done.
Imho, the problem is that North American roads are not safe for small vehicles. If you're a suburbanite who spends an hour in your car every day on expressways full of trucks and SUVs, you don't generally want to be in a slow, tiny, short, vulnerable vehicle where you're beneath the consideration and sightline and possibly wheels of traffic.
I just want phones that are shorter. They keep getting longer, which means more risk of breaking, and means the keyboard is unusable in landscape since it blocks the textfield.
Remember when all the Musk fanboys were claiming that Musk cleaned up the CSAM and anybody who opposed him was obviously a pedophile? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
I saw a post that made something very clear to me:
The size and population of Gaza is comparable to Montreal or Philadelphia. The actual cities, not their metro areas.
Well, about 15% more people because this was a rough approximation.
Imagine telling the entire city of Philly "I'm going to need you all to scootch to the south end so I can airstrike and invade the North half."
Imagine Montreal, but walled in. With no power or water.
I have no idea what Israel should do about Hamas' atrocities, but damn.
I'd wager technical debt is the reason. It's no secret that Bethesda's engine is bad. Bad code makes it harder to do bug-fixes, because it's harder to find the root cause of things and the risks of having accidental side-effects is far higher. There's only so many hacks and emergency fixes you can slap into a codebase before it becomes a house of cards that collapses if you breathe on it the wrong way.
The reason I hate HTML: I've seen smart, reasonable people do this with IDs, and I'm not 100% sure they're wrong.
What, you mean like when Canada stuck to it's guns with the arrest of Meng Wanzhou even after the hostages were taken?
Or like how Canada hasn't had diplomatic relations with the Saudis since 2018 when Canada refused to stop calling them out on their human rights abuses?
The continental aviation industry doesn't need to decarbonize, it needs to be replaced by high-speed rail. Asian countries know this and are building accordingly. Travelling to the Caribbean should involve taking a train to Fort Lauderdale and then flying to your destination to minimize the carbon impact. Westjet can do the latter, not the former.
You know those "X is now older than Y was when X came out"?
Like, in this case: "Pearl Jam Ten is now older than The White Album was when Pearl Jam Ten came out"
That happened in 2014.
