Unlikely. Since Service Ontario deals with health data, it'll likely be attached to a government system and data centres. Staples wouldn't touch this deal if they were responsible for the IT due to the liability.

It's likely only a real estate and staffing agreement.

Get paid to*. This is labour and we're all exploited.

Companies like this often hire external consultants to do the layoffs. They literally have no skin in the game.

I dread the day I need to take care of my parents to that degree. Parents in the burbs, neither of the kids drive. It's at least transitable and my parents were decent people. There's still trauma but it's healing.

Still, how do you balance work to pay rent with the need to care for ailing loved ones? Something's going to give when the boomers start becoming disabled en masse.

When we start talking to each other again without paid influence.

The troubles facing us all, middle class and below, are the same troubles. We need to practice working together locally to build something bigger before major movements are likely to work out. How do we rebuild community nonprofit hubs?

Be warned, take out/ delivery on NYE usually takes 1-2 hours longer if you're in the city. Lots of cancellations too. It might ruin your evening.

If they did that, Reddit would just be an aggregator app of the Fediverse with different communities acting as a new subreddit. The difference would be that they'd have ads and algorithms.

On the Fediverse side, it'd be like having a lemmy.ml with 1000x the traffic and activity. We probably have to defederate to keep up with the traffic and the trolling.

On the plus side, 3rd party apps will be back baybee!

I'm sure Ronnie would be proud of the person you are today. Thanks for sharing.

Toronto might as well be it's own province, right? The Portlands Gas Plant on the lakeshore in East Toronto is the #1 emitter of GHG in the city and while operating at under 40% capacity. The Province of Ontario wants to expand the production capacity of this plant and run it constantly at max capacity. Thanks Doug.

I agree. Important conversations, strange format choice. I do expect better of the Walrus.

I love aquafit -- guided aerobics in the pool. Easy to modify for whatever physical issues you have. It's social, low pressure, and a great instructor makes it surprisingly fun. It looks really easy, and then the 80 year old ladies kick your ass at the exercises.

Yep! The person said that they are starting with salmon because it's a lower barrier to entry. Food manufacturing is a harder thing to start up from scratch with new tech.

Do you have a link to this pattern? I like the heel here and I don't love the one I currently use.
