I known cups can share printers and queues.

What is unclear?

I don't want to pull drivers or install cups on devices. I want to print from anywhere just uploading a file to a web page.

If I have lots of devices or just want to let somebody print from his phone/tablet without installing or configuring anything...

With cups I still need to touch the system or the device somehow to let it print.

Go Garmin. Not only they are actual USEFULL, a lot more open even if they have a custom OS, and battery actually last like one or two weeks...

They are also very durable

Work is work.

Is sex work selling your body? Is doing masonry carpentry or road fixing work anything less than that?

Is sex work ethical? Is working for a weapon manufacture ethical?

I think the point on sex work is a different one: exploitation. That is wrong and should not be allowed or tolerated. But is it avoidable?

The focus should not be on the sex workers tough, but on the clients. The sex workers will always be there as long as there is demand for them.

So, yes, give sex workers the opportunity to work in a safe and not abused environment, so that it can be a choice like any other work. Which means, legalize, regulate, and so on.

Nope, all immich metadata is stored in the db, maybe the files themselves are in the folders, but all info on albums and tags and such would be lost in immich database in 20 years time.

While my 20+ years of photos with metadata stored and sorted by album/folders will still be accessible in the next 20 years.

Its a matter of not depending on one tool specific formats but on standards and easy accessible metadata.

Nothing against immich at all on my side.

Last few years we have been booking vacations when we have big race events, to put 1 and 1 together and save money. So 1 year in advance (that's when ironmans registrations opens up).

Back when we where only traveling, usually from Feb/march for august. Go get best deals and low tickets.

It's actually what i was looking for... I need to understand if it's solid enough for long term usage and how to mix that with my existing photo collection, but it really seems that this feature will cut out the need to manually download & move the photos from Immich to PiGallery2...

I have not setup authelia or similar, i am using proxy auth linked to PAM to simulate SSO. I might end up using authelia or similar in the future to solve this specific issue indeed.

Definitely podman + podman compose.

Its fully open source (docker isn't) and its secure by design (security has been added to docker as an after fought).

Also podman is rootless by design, docker takes a bit of effort to run root less.

Nah, moving away from NextCloud, it worked fine, but again overkill only for this

Are you from USA? I feel that many Americans cannot really cope with people with different ideas and views, but always feel safe only in a space that are kind of an echo chamber.

I like to share ideas with other having similar minds, but I am usually intrigued by trying to understand why others think stuff opposite to my views. My own views have broadened a lot over the years, often understanding that reality is much more complex than black and white and even 100 shades of gray are a simplification.

Just to say, I don't give a shut what the Lemmy Devs political views are, I don't need to chat with them, I follow the communities I am interested in and try to contribute back as much as I feel like. I never found lemmygrad much of interest for example, but I miss the flat earth stuff which I was following on reddit (for a good laugh) and I believe Lemmy lacks diversity but not for politics: we are too many tech savvies and THIS is the current limit of Lemmy.
