Lol, the guy goes normal weird high school level shitposter when he has the slightest pushback.
Don't worry Roko has the support of the best mind of our generation behind him: Roko: "Elon is absolutely right that Tunnels[sic] would solve traffic"
E: More on the best minds, somebody in the comments : "'it[a country selling their land to a new country] has happened' is far less rare than CREATING the land, which has never happened.". Are we a joke to you? [this sentence was translated from Dutch].
Being on themotte (or equivalent places) is also so bad for your long term mental health.
The social safety net here is so poor that even the amount you get for unemployment is the same as it was decades ago, which doesn’t pace with inflation and can’t even cover rent anymore.
In .nl our far right gov has seen this and decided to uncouple unemployment and wages/inflation as well. So yeah lol.
“my good bitch have you met rationalists”
It can be pretty hard to admit you have been conned, so I figure this is their defense mechanism, pretending that this all is new and not that it has been there from the start. (The hbomberguy skull guy was one of the early LW people for example (9 years, has it been 9 years already?))
The People Who Pray At Prompts are suddenly very worried about cults.
E: haha spoke too soon
from the replies:
Do you really think "cult" is a useful category/descriptor here?
My view: things identified as "cults" have a bunch of good traits. EA should, where possible, adopt the good traits and reject the bad ones, and ignore whether they're associated with the label "cult" or not.
Wonder what went wrong there, did they just see the word EA and Cult and went 'people are calling Rationalism a cult again, time to deploy the Rationalist answer. A bot? Something else? (More edit, ah prob somethign else as this is prob a reaction to the whole line of tweets and not that specific tweet, a line of tweets which are doing the geek social fallacies there is a little bit more to being a cult than just ostracizing people)
One of the problems with the 'alignment problem' is that one group doesn't care about a large part of the possible alignment problems and only cares about theoretical extinction level events and not about already occurring bias, and other issues. This also causes massive amounts of critihype.
Peter springs to the center of the room. The air pressure changes. A buzz, a hum, a current about us. He brims with a frenzied energy. Something is happening. He is going to give us a taste of what’s to come, he says. This is the kind of intellectual activity we’re going to experience at UATX. We’re going to grapple with big issues. We’re going to be daring, fearless, undaunted. We’re going, he says, to do something called “Street Epistemology.”
Doctor Rockso Epistemology (nsfw) they just sparkle.
Very high 'I'm being cancelled for my opinions... you know the ones' factor.
I did 80 hours of study on this, and turns out that the children had only negative QALYs (from now on NQALYs), and the reduction of poor parents surplus children actually increased the total QALYs (and that is not even counting the benefits you get from using the children), therefore in this essay I will...
It is funny, some of them are so afraid of paperclip generators while they don't realize that they themselves can easily be made to believe horrible things if you just back it up with enough stats, papers and contrarian blog posts.
I was elected to sneer not to read so I'm not spending 23 minutes on that. But I do wonder if you could refurbish large parts of this blog post to argue that masturbation is murder (when cismen do it). One counter argument against this is denying the full moral status of the semen.
I want to make a HN account and reply to the 'depression and schizophrenia is or isn't a hardware/software issue' posters and tell them there is actually is a working IQ test, and they all just failed it.
