Many modern translations of the Art of War are misappropriated and forcefully applied to business or politics.

Sun Tzu was a Taoist, who believed in simplicity, spontaneity, equilibrium, and so forth. He believed in flowing effortlessly like water finding is level and weathering a stronger enemy.

His writing exemplified a philosophy and a spirit of living as he applied them to war.

I'd rather be hated by Spaniards than Latinos, but maybe that's just because I'm from the US

I'm pretty sure even in non Euclidean systems 1 can equal 1. Does Euclid even apply to logic? Do you just mean any system which uses axioms?

Think of all the people who don't care at all about the structure of society; who see no problem with wealth inequality or climate change. Yes, it's easy not to care.

But the people who make a stink about welfare truly believe it is a flaw in the organisation of society. They believe welfare is socially and economically harmful in the same way we might believe inequality or alienation is harmful.

Of course, we recognise welfare as subsidising social externalities. But others may believe either that these externalities should be allowed to kill people, or that subsidy encourages stasis. Or indeed they may not think of these externalities at all.

The Pythagorean relation ABSOLUTELY holds for a triangle whose legs are both 1 and whose hypotenuse is 2^(1/2). Pythagoras' cult simply didn't believe in irrational numbers, hence their trouble when the Pythagorean relation implied it. It is known there was even a proof at the time of the irrationality of the square root of two.
