I believe the lack of charges for lying to Congress does lend a little credibility to the story he tells.

The tobacco execs who testified to Congress that nicotine was harmless and non-addictive didn't get charges, either. Does that lend credibility to the claim that cigarettes are good for you?

Fuck no, it doesn't. Because nobody has ever been charged for lying to Congress. Even when they've been bald-faced directly lying to Congress.

People aren’t mind readers and they aren’t purposely trying to make your life harder.

Oh, now I get it. They just don't even notice or acknowledge the existence of other people unless someone reminds them that such mythical beings exist.

Yeah, you're right, I'm much more sympathetic to them now. They're not mean, they're just amazingly self-centered and oblivious!

a handful of times at most

You must have Shaq's hands, because I've experienced this literally every time I've gone to a grocery store throughout my entire adult life.

Get the fuck out of the way or someone less hinged than I am is going to move you.

Oh, some percentage of the dead people are brown or brownish? Well, that makes it all ok then!

Who is downvoting a puppy, and why?

[-] VoxAdActa@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

That's not the same and you know it.

Oh, is 4chan too much freedom for you? What happened to your whole "no rules, just right" attitude?

It's sounding more and more like you don't give a single fuck about seeing this kind of content; you want to force us to see this content. All the places you could go to get it, and you're still arguing that we should have to see it too or we're not free.

You're right. We're not free. We're sad, pathetic, chained little sheep beholden to a "central authority" that doesn't allow hate speech. Run while you can! Flee, quickly! Or you, too, might get consumed by the woke mind virus and start thinking that maybe the Jews are ok people!

I don't think the quality of the front page changed all that much in the last month.

I don't know. I don't think I agree. I've been seeing a lot more truly garbage-tier content on the first few pages of r/all lately, from some really weird, never-before-seen, garbage-tier subs. Half of them I don't even know what they're supposed to be about. What the fuck is a Honk Star Rail? Where the fuck did Pop Culture Chat come from? Who the fuck is Peter, and why is he explaining jokes? I used to doomscroll down to page 8 or 9 before I started seeing weird stuff like this, and now it's right there on page 1. In the past, when I started seeing that weird Taylor Swift Simp Cult sub, I knew I'd been on reddit too long. Now they regularly show up, if not on page 1, then high on page 2.

Along with the r/AmITheAsshole scab copy sub, r/AITAH, which somehow managed to make it to the front page in record time after it's creation, even though it has about 9% as many subscribers as the original did.

Hell, some of these posts on page 1 of r/all only have 1500 upvotes. That's insane.

Right? I think I've downvoted a grand total of a half-dozen comments here in the last month. On Reddit, I'd be handing those things out like candy.

Can we please keep the Reddit spam in the specific Reddit-centered communities? I'm trying to stop paying attention to Reddit.

That’s 1 string theorist, Brian Greene. It is absurd to call all string theorists liars. Are all psychologists liars because they had a reproducibility crisis?

That's like saying NDT is "one astrophysicist" or Freud is "one psychologist". We're talking about the guy who brought the entire concept to the public, and he's sure as shit not the only guy who wrote fantastically optimistic treatises about a concept that real physicists didn't bother with because it was inherently unfalsifiable due to being entirely untestable.

None of them wrote books that said "Yeah, this is a cool thought experiment that will never be able to do anything scientific hypotheses are supposed to be able to do". Fuck, just make another thread asking "What do y'all think about the Many Worlds hypothesis?" and you'll get a hundred comments talking about how cool it is as they walk straight out of the real of science and into the realm of crackpot woo-woo speculation. BECAUSE OF THESE PEOPLE.

Yeah, I agree with the video. After a certain point (I'll be generous and say that point was 2000-2005), it was a lie. A scam. A con. No different from the guys who say the pyramids were alien landing markers and Stonehenge was built by fairies. It was a load of people saying nonsense stuff to sell books and speaking engagements.

If that showed up on some Lemmy instance, you'd still have people saying "Defederation is bad! Marketplace of ideas! Just block them and move on! It's just one person!" :sigh:

I understand what they are, I'm asking if there is a name for the category of characteristic that they both belong to.

You're not getting an answer to your question because the question, as stated, is incomprehensible. You're asking for a "category of characteristic" that a pair of antonym adjectives "belong to"? That doesn't make sense. They apply to a whole host of characteristics, because they're not describing a specific characteristic, but how a characteristic relates to the whole. Just like "homo" and "hetero"; homozygous, heterogenous, homocystine, and heterophony are all words that use the "homo" or "hetero" prefix to describe how those words relate to other concepts in their category. It's the same with "cis" and "trans". The prefixes don't "belong" to a category of characteristics, they explicitly exist outside of the characteristics of the words their modifying.

That's the best I can do with the way you've chosen to phrase your question, and I admit it's a reach, but your question is gibberish.
