Some short excerpts for the purpose of demonstrating examples of questionable footage (short enough that they shouldn't be a copyright problem, for purposes of criticism, review, research and study).

Which of this footage is real and which is re-enactment? Is the photo of the clapboard separate to the video before it, with the camera flash transition inbetween?

This ship footage looks like it could be real. The quality is amazing however.

I click on my "From" address and then select "Customize From Address...". I can then type anything I want up there. It's a little annoying when replying to an email chain with an alias, but not too many steps.

I was amazed that we transitioned from one GPU heavy bubble (Crypto) to another (LLM/AI). Whilst the hype for crypto imploded the use for the hardware sort of didn't. I wonder if the next bubble with be the same, or if we get some refreshing variety to our money sinks?

Microsoft et al are subsidizing GenAI to an insane degree. [...] prices shoot up for their customers and serve as a rough awakening to all the websites that integrated a crappy chatbot.

I've run some much simpler chatbots on just my desktop PC, so they will have some fallback (if they really choose to take it). Still it locks up my entire computer for a few second for each reply, so even a few hundred users per second peak would be an expensive service.

(Insert joke here about customers not noticing or caring about the difference between website chatbots built on big company services vs smaller ones, because they have exactly the same problems just in different hues.)

I'm on a semi-static IP. It has never changed (3 years now) but might theoretically. An actual static ip is an extra $5/mon addon last I checked.

When I signed up I was on CGNAT (default for all new customers). I called them, explained why this didn't work for me and they changed me to a proper IPV4 address without any hassle.

What's the motivation of splitting things into Australia-general and Australia-politics? Is it to have a space that's less stressful than the other to read?

"Cold" suggests you're thinking of balanced signalling. You don't have any balanced options with standard headphones and computer PC jacks, everything is unbalanced. Both the 4-connector (TRRS) and 2x3-connector (TRS) variants of your headphone connectors are unbalanced audio.

There might be a difference in crosstalk between the speaker and mic wires (ie signals going to your speakers leaking through the wire insulation and into the mic wires), but it should be inaudible if the cables and headset are designed correctly.

I wish I could remember the name of the show :( I tried doing some searching, but came up empty.

I used to check /r/sysadmin whenever something felt down. Often there would be screaming Australians there mere minutes before I encountered an issue.

Also Microsoft Office300+ is a great product.

I can't help but think of the opposite problem. Imagine if a site completely made of bots manages to invite one human and encourages them to invite more humans (via doorstep handshakes or otherwise). Results would be interesting.
