If you're not interested in optimising, just play and have fun. Outside of two cutscenes in the first year, you won't miss anything. Everything is doable just as easily in year 20 as year 1.

But if you are interested in optimising...

  1. Don't let your farm get too big too quickly. You'll spend all your time watering.
  2. Fishing can be amazingly lucrative in the single player early game.
  3. Mining should be your primary activity until your farm is automated.
  4. Don't donate your first dinosaur egg or your first prismatic shard. You'll get more.
  5. Basic sprinklers are a trap. Wait for quality.
  6. Berries are great first year crops. Especially in 1.6 given the addition of a new way of processing them. But don't forget to grow a bit of everything.
  7. Resist the temptation to build a glorious hoard until the second year. Profits and bundles are the most important things in the first year.
  8. But that being said, never sell resources. Don't be afraid to buy them either (especially in the first year).
  9. Check the travelling cart every Friday and Sunday. High value items are red cabbage, rabbit's feet, and truffles. Getting these from the cart instead of producing them yourself will greatly aid in getting the bundles done earlier.
  10. make sure to plant a pomegranate and apple tree as early as you can manage in summer. Plan for a pig before the second week of fall.
  11. Fish are seasonal, and appear in different locations. However, outside of the legendary fish, none are unique to spring. This means you can delay worrying about fish bundles until summer. But you can't miss any more seasonal fish after that.

Probably some democrat or anarchist. Still, I would have loved to see the bastard shot.

That's actually a really good point. Interesting games tend to make me read books. I can't remember a time when I wasn't at least a social democrat, but reading definitely pushed me over the line to the actual left.

I don't think that the dishonesty and hypocrisy is actually lost on them. The difference is that the US is always the "Good Guy", and whatever enemy of the moment is the "Bad Guy". When the bad guy does it, it's because they only do bad things. When the good guy does it, it's because they had no choice. It also makes it easy to just make up whatever you want about the bad guy, such as this garbage, even when they're actually doing what they claim the bad guy is doing.

They used to be such good friends. I wonder what could have possibly happened? I guess we'll never know.

Thank you for doing this!

Not the first time that Port Coquitlam has had these sorts of problems. I haven't lived in the area for quite some time, but I would have expected to have to drive at least another half hour from downtown to find something this blatant. These people are getting worse.

I'm not really into playing 4x games multiplayer. But I did play Stellaris multiplayer. It can get pretty frantic if you don't pause every now and then, but a far cry from boring.

They did before they were conquered. Why is that so hard to imagine now?

I didn't spend too much time on it, and it could probably be done better. I just used free web tools to download the video and autogenerate subtitles. The text at the section I mentioned says this:

с азиатами наизусть меньше и меньше культура и

ценности нашей ключевой минус России.

Fed into google translate, we get this:

with Asians by heart less and less culture and

the values of our key disadvantage of Russia.

Again, results weren't great (which is why I didn't post them the first time. Someone with more time on their hands could do better). But it hits a lot of the same words as the native speaker's quote, and it seems to indicate something racist is being said. The first auto-subtitler I used was completely useless, the second was "good enough" for my purposes. I have no reason at all to believe that the original translation was fake, and this didn't contradict the original translation.

If I were to try a third time, I would probably upload it to youtube and try using their tools, but I didn't really want to upload it to my youtube account. Google's natural language processing is pretty good.

It's for sales. Telling the truth would anger the Americans. It's the same reason that after Sands of Time, the prince became that godawful angsty American. It wasn't fashionable to have a Persian protagonist after the world trade centre came down.
