It is steadily growing over time. There were people who ridiculed it and said nobody would ever want it, and it would never be worth a dollar.
It makes sense that you didn't know what a Satoshi is. In fact, you may still not know what it is. There are 100 million satoshis in one bitcoin, so one satoshi is 0.00000001 BTC.
Yeah, there have been lots of predictions for bitcoin and people trying to guess specific time periods. I don't get into all that.
I just think it is badass to be able to hold value in something that nobody can counterfeit, I can instantly and privately transfer it. I can use it on amazon, Walmart, airbnb, Expedia, and a bunch of other places. I can carry it on my phone with me and protect it even from physical phone thieves. and on top of being totally awesome, it has steadily gone up in value as more and more people all over the world realize how cool it is. It is like an awesome game of spoons where we all end up winners because we all have a much more convenient form of money.
Clearly, climate change is on the rise. It is absolutely a fair price to pay for all the advancement. For almost all of history, we were dying under 30 years, we are close to triple that thanks to technology and all signs point to lifespan increasing. For pandemics, even if we outrageously compare just the number of deaths, not even percentages as we should, many pandemics of the distant past were way way worse than the only one almost all of us have seen in our lifetimes.

I know you have it in your head that technology is evil or whatever, but that falls flat when you look up the numbers you are so afraid of. You are like a teenager complaining about how awful their parents are when literally everything you love and enjoy has come directly from them. I would not be surprised in the least if you are a literal teenager with how little you have heard about history.
It is honestly amazing how little you know of history. We literally had over 100 weeks with more casualties than the entire Russian and isreali wars combined back in ww2. And somehow you think wars are now worse. It's honestly mind boggling.
Also, it is absolutely undeniable that murder is way down. You haven't looked, and you can't imagine how far off you are. The same for pandemics, it's not even comparable. You are arguing that dinosaurs are smaller than most mice and it would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad that you are so sure of yourself and so completely wrong about something you refuse to research. It is literally so easy to quickly look up and find you are wrong.
Yeah, technological progress has historically made life worse for humans.
Every word in every language changes over time. The term AI changing is the absolute normal. It's not some mark against it.
Current llms are phenomenally beneficial for some things. Millions of developers have had their entire careers completely changed. Teachers are able to grade work in 10% of the time. Children through to college students and anyone interested in learning have infinitely patient tutors on demand 24 hours a day. The fact that you are completely clueless about what is going on doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean it isn't happening. It just means that you not only feel like you are "beyond learning", it also means that you don't even have people in your life that are still interested in personal growth, or you are too shallow to have conversations with anyone who is.
This is just beginning. The more you cling to being in denial of progress, the further you will get behind. You are denying any mode of transportation other than horses even exists, while people are routinely flying around the world. It most likely won't be too long until your mindset is widely accepted as a mental disorder.
İ live in the 2nd world and am often in the third. You must have either been in a pretty unique place, or you are projecting your experience from long ago onto the current state of things. You just need to revisit and update your world view to modern times.
I'm sorry you've been so hurt, I hope you get better.
Standing up for what you believe isn't sanctimonious. I hope you eventually learn to quit caring so much what others think about you and that you can start to express your true opinions. Sure, some people will be offended and walk away, but those aren't the best types of people anyway. Quality is much more important than quantity when it comes to who you spend your time with.
Yeah, I would be unable to respond in any meaningful way if I were trying to argue your side as well. I know why I'm downvoted. I'm downvoted because I point out a disgusting habit that many people have and they hate to think about. That's fine though, if I can get through to a single person, it is worth it. Think hard about which side you are on here, it's not a good side at all. Deep down you know that. Sometimes anger is the appropriate response. You'd be angry too if you developed a moral compass.
I'm sorry it is so hard for you to make the connection between one abused animal and many abused animals. I don't know what else to say. This is text book cognitive dissonance. Two things couldn't be more related.
When people show outrage about the abuse of a single animal, it is in no way "shoe horning" or a "non-sequitor" to point out the massive animal abuse that many people are supporting. I understand that people hate hearing about, but it's still true.
