Y'all focus way too much on voting and I'm tired of it. You can't simultaneously believe that voting is pointless and doesn't do anything AND that your vote is a moral imperative. Stop it.

People got to like him because he had some funny clips going around in meme channels but really he's just a nepo baby with skin in the game on this issue who refuses to look outside of the box of the mindset that gives him.

The little girl thing is Maria. The transphobia is the fact that there are signs that Vivian from Thousand Year Door will be translated from the original "correctly", ie she will be canonically trans. Which INCLUDES her struggling with transphobia directyed at her from her sisters.

What if someone did a takedown of Pokemon that fully explores the implications, but the thing is that a takedown of Pokemon cannot be fun. If its fun then its just grimdark Pokemon. Its "do not do this cool thing" ludonarrative dissonance. Youre not getting anything truly cool out of that.

We it would need to be a pain to play. Like Spec Ops: The Line, but Pokemon. Or maybe Undertale: Genocide Run but Pokemon specifically instead of JRPGs generally?

Palworld is definitly not that lol. It revels in the fucked upness as far as i can tell. It doesnt even shame you so you dont even get the "do not do this cool thing" aspect. And it endevors to be fun (ymmv on success).

But Im wondering if a game that says to Pokemon what Spec Ops: The Line said to military FPSes is possible?

Not going to lie to you I was hoping by posting this here and asking other people would read it and boil it down for me so my brain could encapsulate. I'm not a good reader.

9/10 I think content creators reminding their audience that their parasocial fantasies are fake is a good thing but I sort of agree that Amber took that a bit far and did it in a weird context.

While there is diversity of opinion on Hexbear (wow that bit sounded really ChatGPT of me I'm sorry, Im literally currently playing with it lol) most folks on Hexbear agree that while Putin's decision to invade was a reprehensible one, the the decision was provoked by Ukraine and the West via NATO encirclement (and its important to understand that NATO has always inherently been a hostile power to Russia as to why the encroachment of NATO would provoke Russia) and also the War in Donbass and the treatment of the ethnic Russians there.

Perfect example! Winston Churchill was a racist who committed intentional genocide in India.

And he wasn't just "making mistakes". He was an evil man doing evil things on purpose.

Fair enough.

All the major social media companies I'm aware of are based in Silcon Valley, IE the United States. I'm not saying that foreign governments don't try to astroturf them, but surely companies based IN america are more likely to be heavily influenced BY American influences (corporate and government)? And surely you should be more afraid of having your opinion influenced by propaganda from the people who actually hold the power over the platform, than from foreign governments trying to infiltrate the platform? Surely you should be more afraid of the powers that be that are actually close to home for you?

This is my thing with people that are afraid of Russia or CPC influence. I'm not a Christian, but I do think that Jesus had a really good damn point when he said "take the beam out of your own eye". Focus on whats going on in your own neck of the woods.

Its like the "TikTok harvesting data for the Chinese government" controversy, why are we worried about that when American social media companies are harvesting our data right here at home. What rational reason do I have to be more afraid of a foreign government than the one I actually live under the power of?

ETA: Porkroll Posadist (the one with the arthur clenching fist PFP) made a really good post about this here: https://hexbear.net/comment/3714293
