I saw that thread too, but this narrative is such cope. I want to see it as much as anyone, and we are making progress, but idk how people got from "biden's polling dropped a good few points, this will probably cost him the election" to "nobody under 45 is going to vote for biden". I still think younger people who can't be cowed into voting for biden by the time november rolls around are in the minority (though it's incredibly heartening to see that minority grow by the day.)
the fake one looks like connor omalley more than anything. That's supposed to be a thirst trap?
this reminds me of the people who think editing HTML to make tweets/websites say something else is "hacking"
when it progresses into the realm of "4 guys backing each other up that its totally unnecessary and presumably shutting down the SIL trying to correct them," and when literally any research or forethought would show that its a horrible idea, then I don't think it is. It isn't like "can you believe this person isn't 1337 like me" it's "hey can you back me up? otherwise my groupmates are going to tank my grade by being self-deluded arrogant pricks". It's the not listening when being told why its a bad idea that sucks, and the sexism aspect, while this is way too 3rd hand to know for sure, is pretty sus from my experience in comp sci circles
At the time, everyone I knew thought him every bit the dangerous buffoon Trump is considered now.
Yeah I wasn't exactly politically engaged at the time (was small child) but reading works from the time, especially Alison Bechdel's Dykes to Watch Out For, was illuminating for me about how little has changed. The frustrated liberals seeing how bad the situation in the world is but utterly failing to make the connections needed to actually fight back, the derangement that set in after Bush's stolen first election, etc.
I also read a book of essays written under clinton about (basically) the coming dominance of computer technology and its many downsides and deprivations if implemented under US capitalism. Seeing clinton's "technology=progress=moral good" BS condemned and many of the more predictable outcomes of the rise of the PC/web pointed out was nice.
israel? they're talking about america after 9/11
its almost worse since I thought we might have finally gotten past the days of "iraq/afghanistan were good actually"
My solution to this was to stop driving lol. Newest car I ever owned was a 2003, now I have an ebike that's about as dumb as a box of rocks. Most sophisticated thing in it is the motor controller.
The nearby carshare system is even worse though when I do have to get a car, they have a lot of the new whiz bang tracking features, in addition to literally being lojacked and having cameras with video and audio facing front and back.
Matrix it is!
All my homies hate discord
the 44 billion is the total amount of loans she'd given herself and her proxies via her illegal control of the bank. 27 billion is the amount she's supposed to return to avoid death. No idea what the 12.5 number is but it seems to have come from the AP as the amount she embezzled, so maybe that's the amount she took personally, rather than it going to allied companies and such?
If this one had happened first, idk if I would be as suspicious but come on. Oh he got MRSA and croaked just weeks after the "'""suicide"""" of the other guy?
