oh hey its me

Though over the winter it was decidedly not well maintained, longest its ever been, etc. I kind of get weirdly less dysphoric about just letting things go vs. actively cultivating something I don't necessarily want or like.

I have thought about this but not found a ton of great stuff out there.

I did recently run across this while working on setting up a FOSS calendar service though: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%253Awe.riseup.net%252Ftech-autonomy%252Binfrastructure (linking google because they don't seem to be browsable on site without an account, but the individual pages are public.) It has guides for configuring, hardening and using various web infrastructure tools and open source software.

It's run by a larger organization here: https://riseup.net/

They seem to frequently link to resources (especially ansible roles) by this group: https://github.com/AnarchoTechNYC

yah, I've been kinda curious but I try to stay light on kitchen gadgets (I don't even have a microwave) so I haven't really tried one in earnest. Being able to cook beans from dry would be huge I think, especially in terms of going im-vegan , so maybe I'll finally do it next time I see one used for cheap. Get rid of the useless air fryer someone gave me last year (I mean I have used it a couple times but I don't think its for me, and this one is mega shitty/cheaply made)

damn that sucks. I also don't see much service, but going to the next town over type shit is at least pretty cheap here. going to the next major city is more, but that's pretty far, and its still not $200-300 bad

You assume I'm not contributing ... based on what?

Based on the fact I haven't seen your handle contribute to the github, which I follow relatively closely. Not to mention from your question's phrasing, and lack of research beforehand, I could have surmised as much. A contributor probably would have been able to find the relevant discussion on the github and read it rather than just badmouthing the software in a post.

I agree, RobotToaster thought through their reply and came with ideas that might actually work, at least in their second comment, not just complaining "why isn't this already the way I want it??"

seems like matrix would be a better choice for the paranoid (e2ee means the server host is less likely to be bothered about the content?) but that's wild I had no idea that existed and I think I've looked before...

"graphene isn't an option" is just not true, there are ways around all the mentioned issues if you just read the rest of the thread/crossposts. And android also has a robust permissions system for apps. Going to iOS buys OP very little except a loss of control over their device to software even more proprietary than Android. And I say that as someone who doesn't use android because I don't trust google.

Also, it's not "all times", it's just when I'm at school.

Honestly that's weirder lol

Just so you don't skip school? eh whatever. If you don't mind it then who cares

Anyhow good luck

I'm guessing someone with enough familiarity could say this about one of the John Green books' movie adaptations, but I haven't seen any (?) of the movies and haven't read the books since I was a teen so shrug-outta-hecks

John, 41, had previously been the head of a little-known group calling itself the Hong Kong Independence Party, where he operated the group's Facebook and other social media accounts as well as a UK-registered website.

The group advocated for foreign intervention in China's rule over Hong Kong following the 2019 pro-democracy protests.

In the wake of Beijing's crackdown on protest, the group called for the "UK and US to send troops to Hong Kong" with online posts about petitions for foreign intervention and crowdfunding for an independent Hong Kong army.

Regardless of how unsuccessful they were, this was the head of a secessionist political group, calling out for foreign invasion and raising money to physically fight the state... That being illegal is pretty normal. Even in the US, while the speech might be allowed, the latter part would not. Groups have been raided by the FBI for much less.
