You should know how to brake without causing maneuver problems (including not locking up the wheels). It is a basic skill needed for many situations. Just keep slowing down, the accelerate just before impact is something that can only be done in movies - any real world attempt will be worse - remember if you keep braking you lose momentum, so the acceleration needs to be perfectly timed or it is worse.

if you don't need to, why cry that it can't?

Because I need to drive 300 miles every few months and a car I own that can do that is cheaper than a car that can't and renting something that can for the few times I need it. Rental cars are expensive and most come with per mile charges on top of the daily rate.

Nice, but be sure to check out the Gingery lathe (and the whole series) before building - Gingery did a few things that would improve this if done. (and this does a few things that would improve what Gingery did)

just after 1600 the letters u an v switched. So if you read something written in 1590 it would use words like 'haue' (have) and heauie (heavy). This was two different unrelated switches somewhat seperated in time not an actual trade.

If someone doesn't brag about it how would you know they don't own it? I know a lot of people who brag, but that doesn't tell us anything about the rest. For that matter I've known a few people to brag about something that we latter found out they never did/had.

Pensions are for life so even if you like to 120 you get something. However they are generally limitited to poor rates of return so if you like a more reasonable life time you had much less money to live on.

You should take advantage of the free continuing education you likely get. While nurse practicioner isn't quite as high paying you can get there without [more] debt and get raises on the way as you get more deducation.

You still need a lot of energy to recycle steel. Less than mining by far but still a lot.

How do I copy and paste this a million times in front of everyone. The politicians have intentionally put both all blame and all power on the engineers. The engineers need to use that power to say no. The politicians control the budget and the what they want done, but not everything they want can be done.

I make it a point of blocking all groups and anything shared. The only cat pictures I want to see on Facebook are your cat, so if you share a meme I'm blocking all from whoever created it. Then I have a rule after blocking 2 facebook is done for this session and so I close the window. I have cleaned up my feed a bit by doing that, but I alone am not enough data to show up - I need the rest of you to commit to only using Facebook for sharing friends and family. Block all groups, marketplace, politics, memes, just share your life with the people who know you well enough to care about your personal life. IF enough of us do that we can maybe show up in data that there are people who don't want that and so they will make an algorithm for us that shows more of our friends and less of the other garbage. I'm sure there is a lot more I'd like to see on facebook but I never do because I stop scrolling too soon - which hurts them.

What the US has isn't free market capitalism. It is capitalism but with government imposed rules that are harmful to the common person. Your insurance depends your employer and you don't get a reasonable choice - they put in $1000/month that if you go elsewhere you lose that. Of course what your employer wants and what you want are different. Your employer wants the lowest costs for something expensive, and they want you to not quit until they are ready to get rid of you. You want some service with that insurance, but you are not a player with power so you don't get that.
