Since I've switched to linux, a lot of games have been starting doing shader pre-caching updates regularly. Might be that.

I'm thinking about buying a 3D printer for creating cosplay props like helmets and armor pieces (only once I figure things out, I'll start small of course) among other things and since there is a sale on the Ender 3 V3 series and they seem to be well received I figured that it would make sense to buy one. Having done some research, it seems like the regular V3 with it's 220x220x250mm build volume is too small for what I'm planning to do. Though splitting some parts will of course still be required, from what I could gather the V3 Plus better matches the recommended build volume having one of 300x300x330mm. The sale puts it at about the original price of the regular V3 which works for my budget.

I'd love to hear some thoughts on this, since my knowledge is limited as well as theoretical and the quality of internet sources varies quite heavily.

Watch Dogs. It's without a doubt my favorite video game franchise of all time and it saddens me that there hasn't been any sign of a new game being in development at all. I'd love if the game went back to its roots by following the first entries formula, but that's just a minor preference and at this point I'd take anything.

I'm a big fan of the Watch Dogs games and books and thought that it would be great to have a place on lemmy to talk about and share media related to them. Especially now that there's a manga series being released and an upcoming movie has been confirmed, this seems like the perfect time to do this. Thanks for reading my post and I hope to see you there!

Governments have been trying to impose chat control for over a decade now but so far they haven't been able to get it through. That doesn't stop them from trying over and over again though and this time their chances are looking better than usual. Even if they fail once more they'll do it all over again soon afterwards. This topic will never get old.

Well, the game did get made. They just stopped updating it because there was no playerbase.

It seems like you severely misunderstand what "AI" as we have it nowadays is (it's not actual AI) and what it is capable (not very much) and most importantly not capable of (most things it is advertised to do). Even if investor magazines and tech CEOs try to make it seem like that, we're not one step away from creating HAL9000. LLMs are extremely over hyped and in the most areas they have been deployed a straight up dysfunctional scam. The only arms race that is happening right now is about who can waste the most money and violate the most privacy laws with this nonsense while all the necessary data centers and their insane power and water demands accelerate the destruction of our environment even more.
