I feel like at this point, it's just so they can stop working on the project and blame it on the inevitable C&D. The only project I know of that avoided this was the person who made a links awakening dx hd for pc, released the game in full and then they disappeared.
Bought a cheap steam key for smt 3 nocturne and modded the hell out of it. It's been pretty fun aside from the time I got ambushed, insta killed and lost a few hours of progress because my dumbass never saves.

It seems they organized with CWA, which is a real union. CWA has been organizing heavily in game dev and tech for years now. For example the Alphabet workers union is CWA and they've worked closely with the no tech for apartheid campaign which is awesome. How strong the Bethesda local will be will depend on how active their members are.

The first few episodes have some cringe depictions of the cultural revolution but that's mostly just to establish one character. Afterwards its mostly just cool space opera from there. I really enjoyed it. Haven't read the books tho
