I am not looking forward to the spin from the WH and right-wing media afterwards. Will be hyper all about claims of it being a "massive success" and something about it actually being about "showing China what can happen at the drop of a hat." Hopefully China will be able to keep making it harder and harder to make such claims.

much less that Plaintiffs’ books were somehow distributed by Meta.

While I guess that Meta may have used settings to be leech only. Unless they show that they did that (which is of course poor practice if torrenting), the nature of torrenting by default means that even one piece of a file was seeded to another user is "distribution."

It is almost like the whole point of "No Child Left Behind" was to make sure this would happen. Intentionally defund schools and make them just "pass" kids no matter what in order to hit numbers for any money. Then point to how fucking awful the rates of literacy and other skills are. Though funding was already pretty bad and got worse throughout the 90's and early 00's before NCLB was made policy.

I think that the pro-privatization of all gov ran departments have been making sure to defund and overwork the staff of those departments/services in order to have shit like this and the drops in literacy. That way they can get mass support for removing all services/departments to cheers. Just like how they have constantly been trying to ditch the USPS because it "isn't profitable" (even though it shouldn't be treated as a for-profit "business"). Or like how they make sure stuff like 9/11 or other "terrorist attacks" scare the masses to strip rights and over-fund the MIC.

Is there a link to the image? I must see it!

I'm just glad the person's face can't be seen. Though I imagine there is a high chance that there are lots of CCTV cams that might have. Hope the person is able to ghost, and that overwhelming fear takes hold for other C Suite folks at UHC and really all companies.

I wonder if the ROK has been getting high off their own (and of course the US) propaganda about how backwards DPRK and its people are. They just believe that folks in DPRK are too stupid to even know how to pull data. Which in a way kind of gives DPRK a small edge in being able to use such stereotyping to catch their enemies slipping. Like the quote about if you are weak appear strong and if you are strong to appear weak. The US showed many times how such a headspace of just assuming that fighters in so many "third-world" nations/areas are dumb and can't possibly be tactical. Shit always backfires.

Dude needs to have like 5 more strokes and STFU. The people are making actual demands of Biden and the whole Democratic Party. They have become just so used to just leaning on the "vote blue no matter who" stance and just literally put more effort in attacking voters for making any demands than they ever do when it comes to Republican Party policies that come up for votes. He is a bitch that threatened a jogger with a shotgun and convensed the victim that he had done more good than harm (even though the victim even outright claims that he was lying about all the actions he took with the situation). Fuck him and his false "man of the people" BS! They only ever "care" about shit like reproductive or various civil rights issues when elections come around. And they never even try to make protections for said issues when they have actual power to do so. I just hope the next stroke takes him out, seeing how being mentally unfit for a position of power no longer matters since Biden is being allowed to run again.

Makes me wonder if they actually store CP in all the source code or final executable auto downloads it when ran. Would be a very reliable way to have a very easy way to sway public and media in the event they feel their case is weak. That way it makes it very very hard to have the person(s) become a hero. Given the way that the NSA and CIA basically can't be controlled anymore by any branch of the government. Wouldn't shock me for them to maybe already have shit planted on everyone they see as maybe being an issue or a threat to their powers.

I like that the article spends so much text talking about the importance of suicide prevention and mental health stuff. But otherwise is just acting like it isn't beyond weird for there to be that many on the same day. If these pigs weren't about to leak something or had stumbled onto something they weren't meant to. Then I still think it could be some kind of attempt to get both some level of sympathy from the public AND more importantly get extra funding. The money would be marked for "mental health" stuff, but would actually be used for other shit of course.

I wasn't aware that he had been acquitted. How did that happen? Were the victims talked into settlements due to legal/court costs?

[-] dRLY@hexbear.net 26 points 2 years ago

They love to talk all that shit about "our missiles are so accurate that we can hit a ladybug" or some such level of nonsense. Which all of a sudden goes away every time that it is shown how many more people were killed while trying to get one person.
