source: ML guy i know so this could be entirely unsubstantiated but apparently the main environmental burden of LLM infrastructure comes from training new models not serving inference from already deployed models.

this is fucking hilarious, do people really not see how vapid and meaningless most of the slop generated by language models is? especially regarding any 'advice' applications XD

zuckerberg is desperate to be the machine learning leader, facebook has like the most or second most A100s purchased from NVIDIA and he seems really obsessed with the idea of LlaMa being a GPT competitor.

(i would wager oai's huge first mover advantage is too big to surpass for the time being, 'chatGPT' is synonymous with LLMs for laymen even though the model running it is practically obsolete at this point)

Luxon is a Conservative Christian guy who used to be CEO of Air New Zealand. Based on talking with National voters, a big part of people voting for him was the same Trump type brainworms of 'he's a businessman, so he'll fix the economy' sort of thing.

There was some sort of 90s encyclopaedia I loved reading as a kid that had a bunch of speculative technologies on it and one section was dedicated to the whole Ronald Reagan 'Space War's tech, so I had a soft spot for it when I was young because I thought it was really cool.

pretty much, this is what french tank designers went with during the cold war. Tiny shitboxes with paper thin armor and huge guns and engines and sometimes missiles. The french MBT also follows this trope as its the fastest mbt in service and hold multiple tankathlon shooting records

not a huge tank nerd but my impression is that the Leclerc is probably the best MBT platform in use by NATO militaries, the challenger and abrams are both overweight lemons and i don't think the leopard is that much better in that respect.
