Truly luxurious second luxury shave with Fougère Gothique. I should repeat this evening shave with a straight razor soon.

It's Magic! Fou Fri 08 Nov 2024

  • Brush: Zenith 506B MB (27 mm × 51 mm Manchurian badger)
  • Razor: Eversharp-Schick Hydro-magic (I2, NOS)
  • Blade: Personna Injector Blade
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! - Heather
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! - Heather
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! - Heather

I've planned a run through all Spearhead scents over the next few days (It's going to be a trickholecentric week for me), and I'm starting with soft, powdery Heather. Looking at my tower of Spearhead tubs, I'm a bit taken aback by how many of them were absolute hits for me. My least favourite one is Roman Spice, and I really like that one too 😄. I remember my first use of Heather was also my first time competing in the Lather Games four years ago. Good memories. This scent manages to be green and lively without any of the sharp edges of a Fougère Classique, Brut, or Varen. Just happy, butter smooth, vernal green.

Today's shave was a bit too early for my taste, so using a childproof extra mild Hydro-magic was fitting. The slightly scrubby Manchurian knot in this Zenith is perfection. No notes.

I’m more interested what motivated the voters.

Good question. I have a hunch about what didn't motivate voters, and that's an out of touch democratic party establishment addicted to corporate campaign donor cash.

Wed Oct 23 2024

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
  • Razor: Union Cutlery Spike (5/8", wedge, square point, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

For today's Wedgeday shave, I brought back the little Spike. This wedge is so small that it's light enough to not have that feeling of inevitability heavier cleavers have. As a result, it has great tactile feedback without the audible feedback of a hollow ground. It's a fun break from big hollow grounds like a dirt bike is a fun break from a nice car.

It's like riding a bicycle 😊

It's truly amazing how Stirling just keeps standing the test of time 😅

Day 11/31 of Looking for Serenity in Austerity

  • Brush: Semogue Owner's Club (cherry wood and boar) (11)

  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice

Morning shave! Last day of vacation, and I finally managed to switch back to shaving in the morning. For vacation djundjila, this feels like a big accomplishment. I'll miss vacation djundjila tomorrow.

I've reached the uneventful part of AA. The razor still has a great edge, the brush makes ok lather and doesn't change a lot anymore between shaves, Roman Spice still smells summery and fresh, and I'm enjoying the routine.

If not for the required daily pic for Raw Hoggin', I wouldn't even move my gear (with the exception of the straight, which I keep out of Djunior's reach.

Now off to the neighborhood pool for dinner fun with Djunior.

Day 10/31 of Looking for Serenity in Austerity

  • Brush: Semogue Owner's Club (cherry wood and boar) (10)
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 50 (7/8", hollow ground, stainless steel, masonic deco) (8)
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice

Look at that bloom! The brush is coming along nicely, my lather has improved, and as a result, the Frio feels when smoother. I even managed to shave after lunch instead of waiting until the end of the day. A successful first third of AA if you ask me.

Heads-up, the Swiss Post somehow shit the bed with the samples. Usually it takes one week for a letter from here to the US and I've sent the samples to @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social, @walden@sub.wetshaving.social, and @whosgotthepudding@sub.wetshaving.social on July 3rd, but they stayed in Zürich for a week and only reached US customs yesterday. I'm sorry about that.

I'm not sure whether they'll make it to you in time. If not, I propose that we wait for everyone to have their sample and postpone the inaugural BVWSC. Thoughts?

I'll send you your individual tracking info in PM.

Also tagging @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social, @sahenders@sub.wetshaving.social, and @DaveWave94@sub.wetshaving.social, so that we can all agree.

Does that brush feel gigantic? I have a 30 mm silver tip from Maggard and it feels huge. I imagine the denser SHD is a monster.
