No.
Fuck you (not OP, but the people complaining). Build the housing.
I’m frustrated to the point where I want the NDP to either merge with the Liberals or pledge to be a permanent coalition until electoral reform is passed, and they should make their support contingent on that making real progress.
It is going to be a minority government so I think an election sooner is likely.
Obviously he should. Having a match, which is a genuine threat to the other man’s life, is the only thing that will give him a seat at the table.
You mean like the shit power dynamic of a party always forming a majority government with only 40% of the vote?
This is why Trump made such a big deal about getting those Covid cheques with his name on it. Because the messaging and education matters a lot more than the actual policy.
People would 100% remember getting a carbon cheque from Justin Trudeau. No one even knows what the fuck a CAIP is.
Exactly. Honestly all the self-flagellation, finger wagging and purity tests over this are exactly why the Democrats have lost and the Republicans took power over the entire government.
Trump gave his son-in-law’s daddy a pardon for crimes that included trying to blackmail a witness against him in a criminal case by hiring a prostitute and recording their sex.
Trump pardoned the murderers responsible for a massacre in Iraq.
Trump pardoned Manafort and Stone and others who committed crimes to get Trump into office.
The majority of Trump’s pardons were people who are personally or politically connected to him. I guarantee we’ll see far worse in Trump’s next term no matter what Biden does.
So yeah Biden can and should pardon whoever the fuck he wants, especially to those people Trump has threatened retaliation.
You can't have the former without the latter
I think we could. In practice they are chosen by the Prime Minister, so we could formalize this practice locally without the crown, but without resorting to an unnecessary election.
Why not have the Prime Minister appoint the President, who must be confirmed by parliament, and keep the role of the President to be mostly ceremonial. Not much changes from today except the removal of the Crown.
The oath of allegiance can be changed to that of a republic which represents all humans in Canada.
Good on them. I would refuse it too. Personally I find it abhorrent that we as a society still allow this one person to be a king just because he was born into the magic family.
We already have a Canadian Governor General doing the actual job, why not just formalize it and do away eyes the crown.
The problem is they don’t need legislation, they need a constitutional amendment which is a pretty high bar to pass…
Sure, but we don’t “need” anything above our basic survival cost, let’s go live on the Savannah and hunt our food again.
For me the problem are those who hoard wealth, who don’t earn a salary but sit and live off their massive pile of accumulated wealth. We need a wealth tax now.
