Example: O.J Simpson

He was a symbol of where the 90s were and how big his court case was at the time. Not that he should garner sympathy because we all know he did it and he only got off on technicality as well as theater performed by his council. But we all know where we were when that was all happening.

That's honestly how piracy in general should be. But as we've learned, have learned and seemingly continue to learn. That, the reason a number of great piracy sources go down the way they did was because, someone had a very big mouth and drew attention that ended up costing us great sources that had lasted a good long while.

These days, it's get your pirating in as much as you can, take your loot and provide only to those who know how and when to shut up.

I think people just like their logos and brand first and music last except 'Touch of Grey'.

[-] fyrilsol@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 10 hours ago

They only seem to release music if they think it'll do nothing but make major success through radio and appease record labels.

See their song 'Thunder'.

[-] fyrilsol@kbin.melroy.org 2 points 10 hours ago

Agreed.

I mean, I felt like AC/DC focused more on brand recognition when Brian Johnson took over after Bon Scott died. Their music were aiming for radio appeal, not that no musician should because it means being successful, but it almost was formulaic. Thunderstruck for example, became a staple for sports soundtracks and stadium like events.

And they're a victim of their own success as you've talked here, where someone who didn't grow up with the band, will only focus on the popular songs. Despite them having grown up with at least a couple albums that AC/DC did release, like their last album 'Power Up' was in 2020. It's the same deal with Nirvana, always wearing that double-X smiley shirt or having the poster and only saying they cared about Nevermind. The same for Guns 'N Roses where it's always both of the Appetite for Destruction albums and songs like Welcome to the Jungle and November Rain.

I think it honestly just speaks about a fan's depth as to how much they like bands. An actual fan likes a band and addresses both flaw and success. A casual fan only likes what was popular and nothing else for cheap nods.

The people running Anna's Archive should've really known better. At one hand, I'm appreciative for what they attempted to do. But on the other hand, they've really painted a big target on their backs by scraping on Spotify. Now they have the RIAA legion sickened on them and they're probably now going to get nuked by lawsuits and appeals. So, in a sense, Anna's Archive kinda went and blew themselves up, screwing people out of a good source.

I'm getting quite strained from the sentiment I'm gathering from people who possess a level of cynicism to where, they believe all Americans deserve what's happening and been happening. I don't agree with that.

There are 75 million Americans, who tried, really tried to get out there and prevent what was to come. We just didn't expect to be outnumbered by two million more people. But I think it's unfair to say that those 75 million americans who tried to prevent the floodgates from opening, deserve this. Because they don't.

There are other countries out in the world right now, who have just as bad leadership if not worse. Should we just assume the people there deserve it? No. Because there are probably people who are likely against their corrupt leaders. America is no different in that field.

We will try again come mid-terms, provided there are mid-terms. Hopefully the 77 million americans who did in fact vote for trump, have gotten enough of a wake-up call, that maybe their poor judgment and poorer decision making wasn't as good as they thought. Because it is they that have damned us to this mess and we know it, we've seen it.

But don't get this idea in your head that every American endorse the idea that we like what we have.

Mine is work and life balance. At least in this stage of my life, I prefer work and life balance. That's why I've accepted a lenient schedule, I leave early when it's acceptable to, I know that my hard work ultimately is accounting for nothing except to make people who're not me richer than I'll ever be.

So it's like I don't even see the point in working hard when I know a lot of the time, things will continue to be more or less the same, day in and day out. My position could change if I had a different life and in a different field of work where it would matter. But as it is, I prefer being home more and doing things at my leisure. Especially when I don't have the commitment of children and currently, a relationship although being in one would kind of be nice though I don't think there's anyone out there who'd accept someone into this lifestyle.

But being at home more opens doors for me to pursue anything I want and indulge hobbies whereas if I was continuously doing hard work all of the time, I won't have even an hour towards them as it would've been spent sleeping it away.

What about you?

Why do I have a feeling they're going to make it optional anyways?

I only have the Hercules one and about a couple Tron games, which I would've thought they'd be included too.

Sleep Token.

And I'm not saying that because they're currently popular. But I'm just about done with gimmicky pretentious bands like them. All of their songs are almost 10 minutes long too. Not listening to that. President recently did debut last year but all of that hype amounted to a wet fart.

[-] fyrilsol@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 2 days ago

You could really say that for a lot of bands like them, honestly. That's why almost any classic rock band can only think of that one song from that one band.

[-] fyrilsol@kbin.melroy.org 4 points 2 days ago

Gene Simmons is a bastard who recently played down Ace Frehley's death.

KISS just never did it for me, I only liked maybe three songs from them. All that they were ever capable of, musically, was write songs about just plain love and cheesy at that. They were mostly a cheesy band just decked out in a gimmick more than anything and they merchandised the hell out of themselves for years. Nothing was off limits. But that didn't make the music any better.

Metal does not always need to be about screaming lyrics, fast-paced instrumentals and catchy solos and riffs. It comes in a lot of forms. If you were expecting Ghost to be yet another band where the vocalist is barking lyrics or wailing them whichever, the instrumental to be just plain heavy, then yeah I can see why you're disappointed.

Also Arena-Rock is quite frankly a more horrible thing to classify them as. They just simply don't fit that mold whereas Journey would.

It is all about direction and control of sound.

Either one or both works.

Mine is completing the Pokedex in the original Pokemon games. All you get is just Professor Oak giving you a wink and a small few second cut scene. And a congratulations text. Imagine spending all of your time then, getting all 151 and even 252 pokemon just for that? Yeah no thanks, I never completed the pokedex.

Going the Joja-Route in Stardew Valley. I say this mainly because, it is what you make of it. You forfeit being able to complete the Community Center by earning things, when you sign your soul away to Joja. What I would've liked is seeing Pierre go out of business completely. I just think that would add a route of depth in the game where you have to make ends meet through Joja because Pierre is permanently closed.

But, that doesn't happen, he'll still be in business despite his depression about Joja running things. Kindof ruins the whole concept of doing it for the achievements even.

I think the answer is - because they're lazy and want you to do their dirty work for them. I quite frankly, am not going to call the police over noise complaints because I think management should do something about that. Police should only be called when violence or tenants who get aggressive.

Not because of noise, I just think it's management dumping responsibility onto you when they're the ones with the power to evict people.
