The users don’t care about the exclusivity.

There is a group of users who care a lot about exclusivity because it signifies unique status (expensive luxury goods, "ultra" version of products that looks distinctly different). There are even more users don't want to be left out of the "cool" group and that's why many people buy iPhones.

The fact that Beeper exists proves that people (read: Android users) coveted the "blue bubble" else we wouldn't even be having this discussion in the first place.

No, Master Chef is the renowned competitive cooking television program. You're thinking about the famous rapper and record producer who is the father of Lil' Romeo.

Do you really win if capitalism dictates when you should feel / cry?

Why tf would a map update be 22GB? What is it, a CP2077 patch / DLC?

The pickaxe is a better analogy. Unity engine is a tool that devs could leverage to build a great selling game, and the price-per-swing is a nice way to encapsulate the absurdity of Unity's new fee structure.

OP is flagging a legitimate issue that can actually put instance owners at risk. Raising the issue that instance owners can unwittingly host illegal content and be liable for it - how is that entitled?

Totally understand that Lemmy devs are a small team, but the growth of use of the software is exploding now, and not being able to keep up is a problem of scale - gatekeeping others from raising issues does not help it get better and in fact discourages issue reports and promotes a head-in-the-sand culture.

Users =/= Subscribers. Most of these users are probably not paying users so from a financial perspective it does not hurt Netflix to shed them.

sometimes include malware

Source? That's a pretty serious accusation.

But is it though? By definition moderation and adminstration means a certain set of standard and rules to keep the community / site runs well. Tildes simply has their own set of standards that so far I think is working well.

Lemmy has mods too and there are plenty of powertripping drama. Does that make Lemmy elitist? Or less so simply because it allows shitposts and memes?

Yeah, good call on walking away - that's what I would do in this situation. You really don't want to risk it, a clean bill of health is worth every cent. Just like the brand new Chlorox Extra Strength Toilet Bowl Cleaner now with Febreeze - leave your seat smelling flowery fresh.
