since lemm.ee is slated to be gone soon, does anyone know of any other instances with similar policies regarding defederation? i've always loved how i can follow communities basically wherever from here. it's why i chose here over elsewhere. i just wanna be able to curate my own feed, but most big instances seem to have all these complicated beefs that mean i'd lose access to some communities if i moved there.

i think super rich people do fucked up shit because:

  1. that's the only way you become mega-rich, and
  2. they want more

if i already have 'infinite' money, why would i want more, and since i'm getting this via magic or something, there's no incentive to be evil in order to become or remain mega-rich. in short, yeah, i reckon i'd be alright, and we'd all be better off in the long run.

what would be the alternative? to always execute if the condition is true, but sometimes execute it even when false, for funsies?

why would he do that?

he stands to make “several million dollars” due to Trump’s continued use of the song.

oh, right.

it's not sketchy, it's basically a captcha to keep down automated bot sign ups, and they link to that document in particular, i assume, because the devs are marxists and figure folks who are vehemently anti-communist would refuse and thus keep down their moderation load.

the term i always heard was maltheism. reading the other comments though, i'm surprised how many other terms there are for this.

fun fact: renowned mathematician Paul Erdős referred to God as the SF, or Supreme Fascist, who kept all the best mathematical proofs to himself.

you're focusing on obama i assume, but the weird part of this to me is the apparent omission of adam savage

there's still goofy magic sci-fi designs now, and there have always been more 'realistic' designs based on (to varying degrees) real scientific and engineering knowhow. the only way one could come to this conclusion would be by cherry-picking your examples. if you compare 'the jetsons' to 'mass effect', sure, it supports your conclusion, but on the other hand, contrasting 'rick and morty' against '2001: a space odyssey' would give a rather different conclusion.
