Between medical bills and potentially needing a care home or home assistance later on, that amount can disappear quick. If you own your home, which many in the retiring generation still do, you also have taxes, upkeep, and maybe even the rest of a mortgage to pay off as well.

Some US based financial advisors recommend having $1.5M or more saved to retire.

Retirement is for the propertied class.

Ironically the US could learn half or more of what they need spies to find out if they just made scientific cooperation between the two countries legal and stopped witch-hunting scientists with Chinese and other Asian heritage.

Several leading German news outlets, including Suddeutsche Zeitung, NDR, WDR and Zeit, have predicted that Sweden will close its investigation after failing to identify any suspects. The move will benefit German investigators, according to the news outlets, as Sweden will be able to share evidence with them once its own case is closed.

Inb4 those files go "missing" under unexplained circumstances on the way from Sweden to Germany.

As I understand it's extortionate consent though. Either you "consent" to your private data being used in this way, or you can't use Zoom.

Good thing there's self hosted and E2EE alternatives.
