When their stupid ass plans don't work out domestically they can just shrug and blame it on an external factor and move on, or shuffle the deck electorally. They're not accustomed to being in a situation where they physically, materially cannot get what they want and no amount of reality warping and coddling by their institutions can change that. I don't think it's impossible but the political economy just doesn't seem to be there afaik. The state would need to shake off the parasites at the pentagon that are charging them 10k for trash cans and bolts for one thing, and I can't really see how. It's not like there's an American Caesar waiting in the wings who can monopolize power to do necessary restructuring of the empire. The whole point of the system the founding fathers created was to prevent that from ever happening. Kamala of all people is the best they've got for this monumental project.

This type of thing will absolutely, undoubtedly boomerang back to the imperial core. And when it does all the libbies who shrugged at the genocide and ignored our warnings that the violence will end up blowing back at them will just move the goalposts again.
